About us

A COUNTRY PUB THROUGH & THROUGH

You'll find exposed beams, stone floors, open fires and an escape from everyday underneath our thatched roof.

Nestled in the Norfolk countryside we're focused on creating great experiences whether your with us for a quick drink or dining from our fresh, seasonal & local menu curated and prepared by Executive Chef Pete Murrell and his team.

LOCAL BEER, PRODUCE & CHEER

We're source as much as we can from the region which means the best locally brewed beers & ales, Norfolk farmland reared meat, North Sea caught fish plus regionally grown fruit & vegetables served alongside the finest seasonal produce from around the UK.

If your visiting the coastal market towns of North Norfolk, holidaying on the Broads or staying in the medieval Cathedral city of Norwich our friendly local team are more than happy to help.

It's because we're passionate about both great hospitality and showcasing the county we live and grew up in.

We waited 15 minutes to get menus and to order drinks so we had to go to the bar to do this, when the girl did come eventually to take our drinks order we had enough time to decide what we wanted to eat so we ordered it all at the same time. When the food came it was cold and the garlic bread was burnt. The food itself once it was re heated was tasty, we waited an hour from ordering our food to it being served cold. Unfortunately I think this girl was on her own in the pub so it was not her fault. I would not go again

Great pub, freehold, so a good selection of drinks. Steven was at the bar when we went, nice chap, we didn't eat this time, but will be back for sure..

We wanted a Sunday roast for a party of 12 and this was recommended by a friend. However, it was a very disappointing meal, the roast was bland, and the desserts were not nice at all, we didn't even finish it! The crumble was stogey and custard was gloopy. The yorkshire pudding was burnt and the gravy was watery. The pub itself wasn't that busy, yet it was still hard to get the waiters attention. However, that said, there was a girl who was friendly and apologetic to us when she served us, hence the 2 stars for service. There was quite some wait for the despite us ordering in advance as we were a big party group; even the kids ice cream took about 10mins to be served, we had to chase it! Overall, I wouldn't recommend but hopefully it was just a one off for them?

Warmly welcomed, nice outdoor area with kids play area, food was stunning. Staff were nice and softly spoken. We could hear the pub quiz going on a few tables away and ended up joining in unofficially (and even got a few right - bonus we didn't though!)

We stopped her on our way home from a trip to the coast, the staff were really welcoming, our food was hot and plentiful overall a lovely little pub and restaurant, I would of given 5 stars but they didn't have a child's menu so my daughter had a huge burger, which of course she couldn't finish, the Chequers also has a car park and beer garden with a nice kids play area ....(so why no menu?)

PUB CLASSICS & SEASONAL SPECIALS
No pub menu is complete without some of the staples. We're talking about beer battered fish & chips, liver & bacon or a homemade pie.
You'll find these at The Chequers too but you'll also find something special. We take the very best seasonal produce we can find, source it locally, and introduce you to contemporary flavours and modern twists on our ever changing menu.

Sorry, we don't have any menus listed at the moment.
