So much nicer than I remember it being. Newish owners are doing a great job. Good food, good selection of beers and nice staff. Well worth a visit.
The bar staff have an air of arrogance about them. Fake smiles, passive aggressive types. Additionally, they advertised on the menu meals at 14.50 then charged 15.50 and claimed the menus are not yet updated? When this was pointed out, they had a shrug of the shoulders. A lack of genuine pleasantries and manners in this place which is sad. I can only describe it as young entitled ladies who simply do not have a pleasant manner. The pub is overall a good pub and the prices and food were okay, hopefully management can implement some customer service training or get new staff!
We visited this pub quite a few times and both under the old and new management, we've had no complaints. Under the new management, for general pub standards, the food is quite varied and the place seems to be a bit busier, and with a tad younger crowd. The place seems to be more animated and lively too. During the latest visit we've had good cheeseburgers and a great sticky toffee pudding. The food is above general pub quality and the service, quite quick. I'm glad the place has a bew lease of life as a while ago it seemed that it wouldn't survive for much longer.
We had a three-course Christmas meal here on Wednesday and it was great. Really nice food, very generous portions and good service. We were a group of 9 and everything arrived at the same time and was well-executed. Thank you!
Lovely staff and selection of drinks, especially since the portobello took over. We tried their dinner menu last week and the veggie burgers looked a bit sad with a half a slice of cheese and one slice of gherkin. We since returned for a Sunday roast and it was scrumptious. Very pleased to have this consistently good pub on our doorstep.
