We had booked for 15 people after my mum's funeral sad times, but the staff made use very welcome ,the 2 girls on the bar and serving the food were excellent and nothing was too much trouble also the price was good. Would definitely recommend it and its a nice setting 👍
Food excellent! Staff lovely, happy and very helpful. Lovely atmosphere, great prices and deals. What more could you want? Oh yes…. Within walking distance to our house which is a major plus 😀
Read the previous reviews and was dubious. What a gem of a place, staff super friendly, great food, I had pulled beef flat bread with sweet potatoes fries delicious and just what the dr ordered. Mellow atmosphere and while there are tv’s in the bar these are not intrusive. I am staying near by and this pub is so much better than the hotel bar . This will definitely be my local during my stay.
Can't comment on the rooms/hotel as only popped in for a few pints and some food on a Sunday evening. Bar-service was great and everyone behind the jump was friendly and helpful. It's a Holt's and that is reflected in the selection of drinks, which isn't necessarily a bad thing! There is a decent menu (I had the lasagne, which was very nice indeed), including special deals. Though, there is possibly better way (a bell?) to get the food from the kitchen to the floor than that old shout of "Service!" ("yes, Chef!"). Some tables out front, or a quieter beer garden at the back. Plenty of space inside, too, with some screens for sports, but they're not too intrusive. This is the kind of village inn/pub every village should have!
Disappointing stay at this hotel. Room was dirty (hairs in the bath) and in a state of disrepair. Reception staff are hardly ever there if you have any issues. The pub staff were rude and unprofessional and the management team ignore your feedback and comments. Rooms were not at all like the photos advertised. We found mould patches on the walls as well as patches on the walls where things had been removed and not filled in or plastered over. There was also hair in the bath when we arrived…not very pleasant especially when children have to use it. Breakfast in the pub was a let down - both the food and service. We walked into the pub at 8.55am as the doors were open (breakfast was meant to be served from 9am). There were no staff around and when someone finally appeared we were practically told off for coming in before 9am and told we would have to wait as the tills weren’t in yet and the chef hadn’t even arrived (!). It’s a shame because the pub itself is so nicely decorated but the staff and the hotel rooms really let the place down. Really poor value for money and we won’t be returning !
