It was closed for the holiday season but we still managed to walk around the grounds and see the buildings. Beautiful old buildings and well-kept grounds.

This was a very informative tour with a great tour guide (jack).we enjoyed the castle and the history and everyone was friendly.i would recommend booking slot in advance as we had to wait an hour for a tour space but it wasn't an issue because there is lots to do very close.
Great for those interested in history. The guides are dressed in period garb and are helpful and amusing. The story of Mathilde who escaped the her prison in the tower and skated across a frozen lake in home made skates was fascinating!! Stairs to the tower not for the feint of heart, or those who are claustrophobic. Story of Mary Blandy and the poisonous cake are well told and give you food for though. Probably for the ten plus though since there are scary elements .
Very informative and interesting tour. Definitely worth a visit, our guide was fun and interacted well with the group
