About us

Step in to discover a traditional pub of unique character, revered for its eclectic range of real ales and its quality pub food, which are served, as they should be, with a generous measure of famous British hospitality.

The first reference to The Carpenter's Arms was recorded in the Berkshire Pigot's Directory of 1844, with the license held by J. Humphreys. Originally situated on Queen Street, the original name for Market Street until 1854, The Carpenter's Arms takes its name from the tradesmen that drank here, and the etchings of carpenters in the windows are a tribute to that. We hope that you keep up the tradition of the carpenters, and enjoy some food and drink here at the end of a long day.

The Carpenter's Arms is one of many rare gems in theNicholson's collection of great British pubs, reputed for their distinctive buildings, intriguing history and vibrant atmosphere.

Nice pub next to Windsor castle with historic interior and a rumoured secret tunnel into the castle. Good beer selection.

Nice interesting old pub. Lots of history. Shame the passageway (railed off) that was possibly once access to the castle isn't made more of. See photos. It looks like it could be something that would draw people in. Showed rugby. Unfortunately had a bad smell all over the pub. Friendly staff. Dessert menu has very poor choice. Toilets downstairs.

We enjoyed a couple of pints and dinner after a visit to the castle. Very pleasant pub with a lot of character. We tried the sausage & mash and the ocean fish plate; both were delicious. Friendly and welcoming staff. Would love to return!

A beautiful pub nearby Windsor Castle, this place has very good food and lots of good history. I was not expecting a lot from my order, a sausage plate but it was really tasty. My wife had salad and chicken also very good. In a world where small pubs were “kidnapped” by big corporations, this resulted to be very nice (although it is part of Nicholson’s) in a very nice village. I definitely would return here!
