I have only only eaten here never stayed. Over the years I have seen this place change some for the better, some for the worse. We always visit this restaurant every year around Christmas time as part tradition eat a meal, dress Christmassy and have a meal then wonder our way into town. Over the last few years the standard has dropped, the staff are mostly capable apart from one that could not make a bitter shandy to save her life. They no longer give Christmas crackers for large pre booked tables which is always a shame and does take away from the seasonal spirit. The food is of decent quality, it is just basic pub food done to a nice standard, we've never had a bad meal and for the cost we don't complain. The samosas which was a surprise was a large portion could have been spicier but was happy, my main course of enchiladas was a nice choice to have on the menu were tasty a touch to sweet but a happy choice for any one. The pizzas look good but does seem to be a bought in base. If you want a nice drink or a quiet pub meal this is a nice choice especially if you want to pub crawl into town.
Great place for food, and the service was great, too. made me feel welcome will return to stay.
Unfortunately I didn't stay here but A really nice Place to eat with a lovely choice of local Fish meals Beer was also good Friendly service from the two lovely ladies serving (no male behind the bar sorry can't give you a mention ) but thanks Chef
Loved this place, friendly locals and staff, great food with huge portions. The chef even cooked the fish my partner caught for us one evening. Room was tended to daily. Bus stops right outside and beautiful walks nearby. Only thing to be aware of is that there is very little water pressure in the shower, so give yourself time!, and our bed was a little uncomfortable. Other than that, we had a great stay and met some lovely people.
My expectations were surpassed. Very friendly team who really make you feel welcome and want to look after you. Room was clean recently decorated and has new carpets. Bed was ok but I have a feeling they will be upgrading it shortly. Great food in the pub filled with locals which is always a good sign. It is not modern so do not expect a chain style environment but it has character. Would definitely stay here again.
