Had a lovely roast here yesterday with a large group of friends. Marked a 4 for service as food did take a while, but it was a busy venue with many large tables ordering food. The food was great, the roast beef was delicious. Really nice venue, and great atmosphere. Was so nice to be somewhere with a great lovely vibe on a Sunday. Will definitely be back. Thank you

The Canonbury Tavern Sunday Roast I wouldn’t recommend this pub nor will I go back. Booked a table for a Sunday roast at 5pm. They’d already run out of the veggie and pork roast (but didn’t tell us until 25 mins after us ordering). After 40 minutes one of the meals (burger and 1 side of mash) was delivered. We then waited 10 minutes before asking where the rest of the meals were, with no answer. We watched every other table that arrived after us get served their roast. We asked multiple times where ours were, to no answer. Finally, after an hour and 25 minutes of waiting in total, the roasts finally arrived. Our friend who had ordered the veggie burger (as they were out of the veggie roast) had finished her meal well ahead of ours arriving. We were missing added on sides we’d ordered but due to the wait on how long it took to get the meal, we decided not to bother asking. Unfortunately the roast was dry, with very little gravy, and all the vegetables were undercooked (especially the carrots). Not to mention, the toilets were disgusting. Some of the worst I’ve seen, they were on par with a nightclub on a Saturday night, rather than a nice restaurant’s main bathrooms. We asked to speak to a manager after we finished our meal because we were very disappointed over the entire scenario and he said he could give a 50% discount. He came back with the bill with only a 20% discount applied, and then said 50% is impossible and backtracked saying he never mentioned a 50% discount. I also had to mention how horrific the one bathroom in the main restaurant was, (see pic). Eventually the manager came back and said they are compensating the entire meal which was a nice surprise, but we are still disappointed at such a lacklustre meal, which was especially embarrassing infront of guests we had over from New Zealand, who were hoping to experience a traditional British Sunday Roast. We had visited The Canonbury Tavern in summer and had a similar experience so this was us giving them another go as it is such a beautiful pub with so much protential, but after this evening we certainly won’t be back or recommending this spot to friends.

Cute and large tavern with plenty of indoor and garden seating. Not a huge menu but everything on the menu is done well. Large drink selection. Great ambiance— very cozy.

A bright, lively and stylish spot in this relatively quiet neighbourhood. The food is simply amazing! Versatile menu, great selection of wines and well-crafted shared plates! The chef Munir really deserves a praise to be able to command unparalleled quality of food for such a busy setting. Outdoor space is large but is absolutely packed - make sure to book in advance. Desi and Leah really impressed with how smoothly and efficiently they run the customer service - very short waiting time, always attentive and smiling, making you feel special and really taken care of. Saw quite a few families with smaller kids - all enjoying themselves. Overall - superb food, excellent service and good value for money! Highly recommend and will definitely return myself!

What a gorgeous place! The Canonbury Tavern, part of the Young's stable is a most happy and welcoming place. Fine open plan building with a restaurant area on one side, more pub and drinking on the other but eating, not at all out of place. Also a huge outside seating offering for when the rain is not pouring. Service is excellent and welcoming. Just a lovely place to visit for whatever you like.
