A sympathetically restored historic inn in the centre of Tredegar, it continues to be at the heart of the community, serving beer and good cheer as it has done for almost 300 years.
Built probably in 1809, shortly after Tredegar was created, the Cambrian Hotel helped quench local thirsts even during working hours when young boys hurried jugs of beer and cider to sweating furnace men. Accounts would be settled on paydays, occasions when free, but salty, soup was often provided to increase what was already ‘on the slate’.

The positives: the room was spacious. And the showers were as good as we’ve had in any hotel. There was good parking on the street. The negatives: kitchen wasn’t open, which was a minor thing as there are other establishments nearby. However, the biggest issue is the volume of the bar’s music late into the evening. It was literally louder in our room than the bar itself due to no soundproofing and where the speakers are. If you stay up late then this is no problem, if you expect to get to sleep before 11 then this is not the place for you.
Didn't even unpack as weren't given the room we booked and manager couldn't have given a hoot. Didn't offer any solution what so ever because we booked through buy a gift king suite and we're given a twin room.. No idea how it has 4* just plain rude with no customer service.
Was told the pub shuts at 12, but the music didn’t stop until around 3 am. Would be fine, if we were warned beforehand, and if we couldn’t hear everything through the floor. We paid for breakfast but were completely forgotten about, and when the manager saw us in the morning she quickly left before we could complain. Rooms were ok though.
Fantastic rooms having Benn working in the area for a number of weeks I managed to stay in a number of different rooms. All rooms are very comfortable, clean and inviting. The bar itself was also inviting with a good variety of drinks and a good price. If ever I'm in the area again I'll definitely be making a booking thanks Danielle for making us feel welcome..
Lovely staff and well kept rooms which had a large balcony and tv. Pub was big and had the football and horse racing on, good atmosphere and drinks prices. Would stay again. Thank you for having us Cambrian Inn.
