I went up to the till to order food for me and my 3 year old son as the app wasn't working. Got told to sit down someone will be with me. Went up again 20mins later, told the same thing. After 10more minutes decided to leave. It wasn't busy in there so don't know the reason. Weird vibes in there. Just moved to the area and decided I wouldn't be coming back.
Clean premises, had booked a table for 2 people for 7pm and arrived at 6.55pm A couple were at the bar being served, nobody else waiting or serving, there was a waitress who was busy, obviously serving drinks to the restaurant. We went to the restaurant part to see if there was another member of staff that could show us to our table. We were seated at 7.10pm. we ordered drinks and food from the bar and the time was now 7.15pm. Starters came out within 10mins and were tasty, mains were served quickly after and we both enjoyed what we had ordered, both were big portions so we were glad we didn’t order the 3 courses.
If you didn’t believe the California pub could be a fantastic venue for a wedding think again! The pub, staff, owner and managers are absolutely first class! The venue was incredible and it made for the best wedding one could ask for! The lighting, cosy warmth of the venue and the accessibility and space was incredible. The owner Isabella is such an incredible gracious soul and seriously couldn’t have made it happen without her!!! She was so accommodating and resourceful and really provided everything we needed for the big day! The venue was well equipped, staff were great and they allowed us to bring in our own items to decorate the place in the way and style we wanted too! Without any force or resistance. From the bottom of my heart I can’t thank Isabella and everyone at the California enough! All the guests had a place to park their cars. The location was great and peaceful and the venue is perfect for a small intimate wedding. Would do it all over again and twice on a Sunday if we could thank you ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Do not go here or Sunday lunch. Taking the absolute mick with portion size look at the lack of veg let alone meat and everything else!
Had the Sunday roast, beef was a little dry. They had forgotten the pigs and blankets but then gave some extra. Overall food was good, kids were happy with there meals. Waiting time was a little long, but it's good to have the time and actually talk with no devices. Staff friendly.
