Exciting new café bar Cakes & Ale open [Expired]

One of Swansea’s most idyllic coastal villages is set to welcome a brand new café bar. Cakes & Ale recently opened on Newton Road in Mumbles. With a promise of great coffee, cakes and delicious dishes by day, and creative cocktails, spirits, and premium beers and cask ale by night, the café bar will offer something different to the already vibrant community.
Mumbles is already home to a number of local businesses and big name brands. Cakes & Ale will provide an additional haven for people who love food, drink and socialising.
“Over the last few years Mumbles has seen investment and transformation, and reinvented itself with developments such as Oyster Wharf attracting national brands including Bistro Pierre, Prezzo and Lounges. Other national brands such as Joules, Sea Salt and most recently White Stuff have been attracted to the village and this complements a thriving mix of independents. The old British Legion site on Newton Road will see the arrival of an M&S food outlet sometime in 2020, so there is real confidence for investors. Cakes & Ale will add to the variety and blend in with the Mumbles community,” said new proprietor Laurence Winmill.
Along with its fun and social atmosphere, Cakes & Ale will serve a healthy breakfast menu, with ingredients like eggs, avocado, smoked salmon, yoghurts and berries featuring heavily. Although traditional breakfast options will also be available. The healthy theme continues with its daytime menu. There is a real hint of Mediterranean with fresh, local produce that’s great value and well-priced served until 7.30pm daily. From colourful salads, vegetarian options and fish dishes to healthy grazing boards, tapas and fabulous breads, the menu promises a simple but beautiful take on great food.
The café bar is open until late, with a great selection of fine wines; a wide range of gins, rums, whisky and spirits; plus some creative cocktails served. Premium beers, craft ales and casks will all be available.
“Here at Cakes & Ale, we believe we’ve created something that’s very different to what is already in Mumbles. We’ll also be creating an array of jobs in hospitality, including four full time and many part time opportunities for local people. It really is an exciting time,” concluded Laurence.
