I had the worst pint of Tennents ever here, absolutely awful. Switched to bottled beer. Was going to go back after our meal but the bar was closed by 10pm whilst advertising being open until 11pm.
My partner and I stopped in on the last night of out nc500 lap and could not have finished of the trip any better. We arrived a little curious about the exterior but once greeted inside we were pleasantly surprised by the hospitality and felt like we were meeting old friends rather then making new ones. Vicky first greeted us at the bar and took us upstairs towards the room and to meet our host Callum. He could not have been a more welcoming and comforting bloke if he tried. We checked in and headed to the bar for a beer after a big day. Vicky was great and we threw conversation back and forth all night while inviting us to finish our takeaway downstairs with a pint. Despite a few older reviews I could not stress this accommodation enough, We had the wicks room with a great view of the bridge and everything was super tidy and organised. Thanks again!
Really friendly bar, they made a huge fuss of the dogs and staff were really chatty. I imagine it gets lively on a Saturday night! Good prices for beer, wine and whisky and they do karaoke early doors on a which seemes very well organised
I stayed in one of the bedrooms for the weekend and personally wouldn't recommend it. The bar itself closes at 1am so you're invited to disrupted sleep if you had things to attend to early morning. While you're the only one who had access to the bathroom, I don't like having to leave my room and walk across a communal area to get to my bathroom. The staff was nice. The facilities in the room could be improved, there wasn't much space to put my bags/clothes on.
We were on the NC 500 and stayed over for one night. The bar was closed so can’t comment on that, but as a place to rest our heads it was awful. On the plus side, the shower was ok and the sheets were clean, but comfortable, it was not. The mattress was long past it’s sell by date, and the smell of the place was very off putting. Our room was not en suite, and was dingy. The walls were paper thin, and the coughing and spluttering of other guests all night was not nice. The place looked dilapidated. I know you get what you pay for, and at £59 this was the cheapest place on the NC 500 route, but I don’t think we did get what we paid for. I think I would rather have slept in the car. The TV remote didn’t work, the carpets on the stairs and landing were filthy, the smell of dirtiness was overpowering. Definitely one to avoid. That said, other reviewers seem to think it was acceptable. Maybe we are just too picky, but definitely wasn’t for us.
