Lovely hotel, good friendly staff, food was amazing, rooms lovely and comfortable, only complaint was beds were to small, we had 4 rooms booked and all of us said the same
We were here for Christmas dinner 2023. It was very good. Such a selection at the carvery for the main course, and the meat was cooked perfectly. All the sides, starters and puddings were great too. The staff were excellent and despite giving up their own Christmas day, were attentive, cheerful and made us very welcome. Please ensure an option is available to give a tip when paying by card.
While the decor is basic and the lighting somewhat harsh, we had a comfortable off-season stay at the Pentland Hotel. The warm fireplace in the lobby was inviting. The bar staff really hustled to accommodate a lot of travelers, smiling all the way. And the food was very good.
Visited on our way through from Inverness to Orkney. Arrived by train before noon in Thurso and had evening ferry to Orkney. Couldn’t have been happier with that decision, because it was lovely having tea twice and lunch in the Pentland Hotel. Very friendly staff and the food was also very tasty. Next time I’m in Thurso, I’ll spend the night.
Can only comment on our dining experience as we visited for the all you can eat carvery which was fantastic. The food was hearty and the serving staff were friendly and up for a good chat, really enjoyed our time. The toilets were however a bit grim.
