Set against the backdrop of the rolling hills of the Peak District, The Bulls Head Inn stands nestled in the core of the picturesque, limestone hamlet of Foolow.
Indeed, this welcoming, family-owned public house is thought to be one of the prettiest in the area, and the decor inside certainly completes the picture.
Flagstone floors and a crackling open log fire make the bar area a traditional and yet extremely cosy place to enjoy a range of traditional cask beers, malt whiskeys and fine wines, and provides a welcome retreat for all walkers, locals and those just passing by.
Hungry guests who wish to remain in the bar to sample some of the delicious food on offer have the option of enjoying the stunning views available by sitting at one of several tables situated next to the window, or alternatively may wish to experience the genuine Windmill theatre seats tucked into the corner of the room.
A small step down from the bar is the Stable - a warm and comfortable eating area that also benefits from the open log fire, and contains eight tables from which one can enjoy an array of scrumptious bar meals, including the chef’s delicious Turkey,Leek and Ham pie. For those wishing to dine in a more formal manner, the restaurant to the left of the bar provides the ideal setting in which to choose from a comprehensive range of culinary delights such as roast sea bass with fennel or venison medallions in a Cumberland sauce. In keeping with the ambience of the country village, all produce is obtained from local farms and dairies, and fresh eggs, bacon, milk and even stamps are available for purchase from the pub itself.

Lovely country pub in an ideal location for visiting Eyam and Chatsworth, both only a few miles away. Really welcoming, friendly staff. Comfortable clean rooms with good facilities and no noise from pub below. Great food for breakfast and evening meal.
A favourite pub of my family, somewhere we've been to many years now and never been disappointed by the experience! An excellent pub lunch in a very cosy setting. Lots of great walks nearby, a must visit for anyone in this area of the peaks for either lunch, dinner or a longer stay. There's always lots of activities going including Thursday pie and pint night and live music on Fridays.
A gorgeous traditional country pub. Well worth a drive out. We had a fantastic Sunday dinner in a lovely cosy setting on a rainy afternoon. We had prawn cocktail starters that were so fresh& tasty. The pork & beef were cooked to perfection, really tasty gravy with giant home made Yorkshire puddings. So refreshing to come across a place that is exactly as advertised, delicious homely food in a good country pub setting. Highly recommend.
The Peaks, its beauty is unquestionably stunning, a bit like The Bull at Foolow. We stayed over a weekend, and from start to finish, it was a joy. The welcome, with an offer to help from Andrew, with our bags, to the spacious, well equipped, comfortably furnished rooms. Nothing had been left to chance. We opted to eat at the pub on both evenings, and I'm so glad we did. The food, service (thank you Spencer, Jack and Sylvia), and general atmosphere were astounding. The food here should have awards. We were really impressed. The young waiting staff were hard working and genuinely looked happy to be there. It was a refreshing change. I am pretty sure we will be back to the Peaks. Its natural beauty has an enormous draw. We would, without hesitation, choose The Bull at Foolow, on any return.
