About us

We are very lucky to have Dom Hewitt as our wonderful chef; he sends out exceptional quality food and our aim is to provide service to match it. Our burgers and Bloody Mary's are the stuff of legend. We always have a pie of the day and fresh fish and chips. As well as these traditional pub classics we also offer more refined options across our changing menus.

We have four beautiful bedrooms in the main pub and another four in the Bull Barn next to the pub.

The pub is run by people who are passionate about good food and good service and it is open every day from 8am until 11pm and with food being served until 9:30pm.

Please give us a call or email us if you have any questions or if we can help in anyway.

We look forward to welcoming you soon,

Charlie and the team.

Did the 5 * reviews go to a different pub than us! Food was so overpriced and fairly average. Scallop starter was one scallop, in a bit of liquid!! Vegetables £10 per dish. Very dark. Mainly candle lit with 2 dim wall lights. Couldn't read the menu. Service was good up until 10pm, then waiting staff were sparse. Had to go'n order coffees at the bar. I ordered my sister a latte by mistake, when she said to me In front of the waiter that she wanted a flat white, he said 'well You've got 2 lattes'!! What would it cost them to have changed it. My son ordered a whisky, came in a crystal glass with a big crack in it. Didn't complain, not worth it. Will not be going back.

Outstanding food, the reviews are warranted. We ordered almost everything to share between us and nothing dissapointed. The pork chop may have been the surprising standout! The prime rib was also delicious. Would go again when we're next back home!

I visited this pub in the evening during January. I think pretentious comes to mind when reviewing this pub. For any visitors attending this place from further afield I wouldn't really call this a pub in the traditional sense. It is much rather a very well to do restaurant masquerading as a pub. It serves a traditional British style menu of which the quality is excellent. The pub is very dimly lit by candle light which adds to the atmosphere. The staff are attentive and understand the menu very well. A couple of drinks will set you back £20 so just to give you an idea of what to expect. Overall though brilliant. Cheers.

One of the best pub meals I have had. Delicious fresh food with great beer and wine options. Very attentive and welcoming staff, despite it being very busy. Lovely atmosphere with roaring fires, in a beautiful old building.

This is simply a great find. Well, to be honest, we didn’t “find” it because we were acting on a newspaper review. However the food is superb and I can definitely recommend the raw beef and the pie of the day. Probably the best pie I’ve ever had! This, coupled with great service and well kept ales, is a must visit and we’ll be returning that is for sure. Price wise it’s on the high side for pub grub but it just isn’t ordinary pub grub. Note: we didn’t stay overnight, hence no star rating for the rooms.
