We had dinner at your pub last Saturday evening, having come to spend the day with our family who were staying at the campsite next door. There were 15 of us in all, 11 adults and 4 young children, so we had booked for 6pm which was the earliest time the restaurant opened. When we arrived, the staff took our drinks order promptly but unfortunately after that, it went totally downhill. We were left waiting until about 6.30pm for our food orders to be taken. By 7pm, there was still no sign of any food, so one of our group went to the bar to see what was going on and ask if the children could be served their starters as soon as possible. The person he spoke to did not know why there had been such a delay but said he would go and find out. He did not come back to let us know what was going on, but at 7.15pm the children's starters finally arrived. The first of our food orders started being served at about 7.30pm, with the last ones, including the children's main courses, arriving at 7.45pm. We left as soon as we had finished the main course, not staying for dessert, as by then it was way past the children's bedtimes. It unfortunately completely ruined our evening, as having to wait an hour and three quarters (particularly with young children) to be served a meal is very poor. The staff were all pleasant and friendly, but at no point during the entire evening did anyone let us know that there would be such a long wait. Perhaps you can now offer an explanation as to why we had to wait so long, especially as we were the first people to arrive at 6pm?

Had our mum's 85th Birthday celebration at The Crown. Could not have been more perfect. Friendly owners and staff

My family went to the crown for the vegetarian Sunday lunch. Unfortunately the portion size was very disappointing. Three small strips of butternut squash on a plate with trimmings certainly not worth £15.00! We mentioned it to our server who apologised but did nothing about it. We ended up leaving hungry. I hope the owners will take notice of the feedback. Although the service was generally good we didn't get value for money so most likely will not return.

Lovely pub, menu is small because of the pandemic, but great. Garden benches spaced for social distancing and they have gone far beyond what other pubs have done. Staff are so friendly

We noticed the staff at this pub have really made an effort to protect customers and their staff installing strict social distancing and spaced out the tables.in the lovely garden. There is a beer tent with a food menu serving pizzas and burgers, lots of beers and bubbly. Highly recommend by my family hence I am posting this review. They take cash or card and are adapting their pub to survive and would welcome your custom.
