About us

There has been an inn at the site of the Bristol Trader on the quay in Haverfordwest since at least the 1700’s. It was once a bustling trading port at the tidal limit of the river Cleddau, upstream from Milford Haven. Now it’s a leisurely, yet central spot to break your shopping, holiday, or business trip during the day & the place to go for a night out at the weekend. The current licencees Brian and Margaret Harries have owned this pleasantly busy pub, now a grade II listed building, for the best part of a decade and have undertaken major refurbishments including the opening of an attractive restaurant extension in 2004.

Since then we have happily received several awards for our food and beverages, the most recent being the Tripadvisor certificate of excellence 2014.

Staff was outstanding 20/10 very welcoming and very friendly and the food was to die for I had the buttermilk chicken burger and my partner had the pan fried salmon (don’t judge on the price we had starters and like 3 drinks each) and when I say it has topped every restaurant I have ever been too is a understatement for a pub you wouldn’t never expect the food and the service to be so amazing would definitely be coming to Pembrokeshire again just for that food would 100% recommend don’t believe me try it yourself.

A lovely pub! We popped in this evening whilst on our travels. The staff are very nice and we felt welcome despite not having a reservation. We were served by a very friendly waitress who made things easy. The portions are a good size and the food is lovely. I had my first ever cocktail there (the banana one! Strongly recommend). The dining area we were in was airy and attractive and the atmosphere is great. It was a great evening. I would recommend it.

The staff were super lovely and a joy to be around. We also really enjoyed their festive menu - we had the duo of lamb and the vegetarian Wellington. We look forward to coming back soon
