About us

Originally built in the 17th Century, The Globe has been an integral part of the heritage of Newton St. Loe, the old colliery was even named after the building. The west side of our two-storey pub was added in the 1800's, with the east side still containing remnants of the original building.

A country pub oozing rural charm and rustic character, our picturesque surroundings provide the perfect backdrop for savouring the hearty, seasonal pub-food on our menu, and the carefully nurtured cask ales and fine wines gracing our bar.

Whether you are planning dinner with friends or Sunday lunch with family, book a table online and enjoy some quality time with those you love the most.

We came to celebrate my wife’s and my birthdays together with grown up children. It was a surprise celebration for my wife and as we arrived first I spoke with our waiter Fiona, who played along and said our table wasn’t quite ready. Once everyone had arrived we were shown to our table and from then on the evening could not have gone better. The food was perfect and the service from Fiona was faultless. She should be commended for her attention to detail. We will definitely be back soon. Well done !!

The food was good but the added service charge of £14.50 for the eight of us was a bit steep ! Especially when the service could have been better . We had to ask for Steak knife’s for three of us. And again ask for condiments ! And then the waitress got a bit snotty when she said NOW !! Anything else before I go ? Charming. Also the Barman didn’t look to happy in his job didn’t raise a smile once. A nice meal spoilt by staff attitude.

lovely food, not the cheapest pub food but well worth it. £16.95 for hunters chicken, £15 for chicken and pancetta pie and £23 for 10oz rib-eye. pretty busy for 2.30 on a Friday but they fitted us in. decent selection of beers including doom bar and Butcombe.

Food was lovely, although it took over 45 minutes to come out. To be fair a table of 10 is never easy to produce to the standard they did. Waitresses and waiter were helpful and diligent and helpful with a no gluten, no dairy allergy. Thank you for finishing a great day out for us all

Very nice Sunday lunch, we have been before & always enjoy the cosy atmosphere & food. We had pate for starters & a pork roast & roast beef. It really was tasty & the staff were friendly & offered a great service. Would recommend definitely
