We came for a Sunday roast and it was delicious! The food portion was amazing and I actually struggled to eat it all. We were looked after by Claire A and she was very attentive, she was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. We also loved how accommodating the pub is for dogs. We brought our little Harvey with us and there were plenty of water bowls around for him and we also noticed that there were dog beds available.

We booked for an evening meal after reading all these great reviews and we were not disappointed. The food was lovely - we persuaded ourselves to have three courses - and our server Zippy was great. Dwayne cooked our food to perfection and the young man behind the bar was really friendly and professional. All in all a really nice, chilled evening. Will definitely be returning.

First time here and definitely won't be the last. The staff were very welcoming and nothing was to much to ask. Food was amazing , had the special wild boar sausages and parsley mash , one word WOW, followed by an amazing apple tart and ice cream. Very reasonable prices too

Follow Mr & Mrs R on TikTok. Very underwhelming and disappointing experience. We arrived at 7.40 pm and asked if the kitchen was still cooking. The server checked with the kitchen and said as long as we were OK to sit in the bar and not the dining area, then yes. The menu looked really impressive. So far, so good. I ordered the 3 meats roast and my wife the 7-hour slow-cooked rib of beef. We were asked if we would like cauliflower cheese or pigs-in-blanket. I thought, That’s good they are offering us a choice, we discussed the options, and both opted for the cauliflower cheese. (Spoiler Alert!!!) The Harry’s & Hanson bitter was very nice and refreshing as we explored the massive garden. The setting is lovely. The pub was quiet and after a reminder, 40 minutes later our meals arrived without the cauliflower cheese. Where to start? The rib of beef was delicious and hot straight out of its vacuum pack. Both meals were cold/lukewarm. The three meats were tough and so inedible that I left the beef (I never leave anything!), the potatoes were small, looked as if they had been “ducked” in the duck fat with no change of colour to indicate roasting and were swimming in thin gravy that should have been served at the side to prevent everything turning soggy. The Yorkshire puddings were soggy without assistance from the gravy. Both plates had mountains of peas, three bits of cold carrot and overcooked warm broccoli. Maybe the gravy was meant to heat up the dinners? Then 10 minutes after we had received our meals, the cauliflower arrived. This is the worst cauliflower cheese I have ever been served. It was boiled cauliflower (admittedly it was al dente not mushy) in a thin white sauce that had no cheese flavour, it had not been browned under the grill and was topped with dried parsley. It was as tasteless as the potatoes. The meal was accompanied by economy cash and carry thin horseradish sauce. The Front of House staff were polite, but why did they just not say:” Sorry, we have sold out of the roasts, but the rest of the menu is available”??? It was very obvious that no one wanted to collect our plates and ask if our meal was OK, so no one did. When we came to pay, we found out that the cauliflower cheese was an extra, but it was not made clear when it was offered. It sounded like it was part of the meal and turned out to be £2.49 x 2 extra and we refused to pay for it. It was removed from our bill. However, It must be said that without it, our Sunday roasts at £17.29 and £15.29 would have had vegetables comprising of copious peas, two bits of carrot and two florets of mushy broccoli. The puddings looked great, we were going to order two, instead of sharing one to watch our waste lines. No chance! AVOID until the management starts understanding and acting on their bad reviews. Some of the kitchen team need re-training. The vacancy board outside the pub says it all. Advice from here: close the kitchen on the nights you can’t offer what you are advertising. Stop under-delivering to customers. Apologetic Front of House team, lovely setting, wonderful refit… SHAME

Just had lunch here and it was absolutely superb. We were worried after reading a review that the menu was limited prior to a refit but it was a full menu with specials. We both had pie (one chicken and ham one steak and ale) and they were delicious with lots of filling, and tasty veg. Glad we squeezed in a pudding as that was scrummy too. Brilliant friendly service too. They are having a refit soon and will definitely be back to see how it looks! Thank you for a lovely 'date lunch'!
