The Blue Bell at Arkendale is undeniably one of the finest places to Drink, Dine & Stay in North Yorkshire.
We might be known as a fantastic restaurant with the wow-factor, but we’re also the traditional country pub we’ve always been. Pop in for a friendly drink of real ales, fine wines and fizz on tap.
Only ten minutes from junction 48 of the A1 the Blue Bell at Arkendale is the perfect destination for your next meal out. Whether you’re looking for a healthy breakfast, light bite at lunchtime or celebrating a special occasion, our seasonal menus have something for everyone.
Just Lovley!! we wanted another night off the cuff the room was available but wanted to charge another £40 on top of what we were originally paying. We didn't stay such a shame as we also spent around £85 for dinner so altogether they lost out on nearly £200 for a room that was available and a meal. Left us feeling the stay was a little tarnished. However it is a beautiful place and the food was gorgeous
We stopped here for one night for my birthday. What a great find. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating, food was gorgeous 🥰 very warm cosy vibes about it which I love. Be definitely returning with the family.
We called for tea the Friday before Christmas. There was a lovely atmosphere in the bar and the food was delicious. What made our experience though was Thomas who served us. We had 3 toddlers with us and he couldn’t do enough for us. The children warmed immediately to him and he made us feel at home chatting openly and making us all feel welcome. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Very mixed review. Went for a family Christmas celebration. Food was delicious which makes me want to rate this higher, however the service is not what I'd expect of an establishment like this. Wine served without glasses, courses brought without cutlery, every time the waitress walked into the kitchen roars of laughter and explicit swear words which when there's there's children on the table and when you're the only ones in vicinity is really uncomfortable and unprofessional, we were never asked once how our food was, no offer of a desert for people who hadn't pre ordered and a general feeling of them wanting us to leave. This is a restaurant who has been in the Michelin guide for the past few years however cannot have received this service! Sorry Bluebell, expected better.
This evening we had a 8pm evening meal booking for 10. Apart from the young man who tried his best to provide service at the start of the evening, the service from the rest of the staff was pretty abysmal considering the place was only half full. We ordered 4 bottles of wine and had to remind the waiter that we still didn’t have any wine after we had eaten the first course. He apologised saying the persons sorting the wine had gone home so delivered only 3 bottles of red. We then had to leave the table to remind them we were still 1 bottle of white short. Also no water delivered to the table that was ordered same time as the wine. All the fillet steaks were over cooked medium was well done, my medium rare was medium etc.etc. After the deserts were served and cleared we waited about one hour and no member of staff revisited the table to ask if we needed anything. so I searched the pub for a member of staff to ask to be served coffee and tea. Sum result extremely disappointing evening considering we spent over £700 very poor service. Over the 3 hours we saw the ‘manager’ when we were shown to our table and 3 hours later to tell us the taxi was waiting. Frankly as a social group I don’t think we will be recommending this venue to our friends and associates. Brian Morgan
