Nice friendly atmosphere but food terrible! Ordered fish pie (£18) which seemed to take forever to come and when it did I was shocked! Overcooked, dry as a bone fish ( no sauce !) with potato topping that tasted like cardboard. Absolute disgrace. Wasn't charged for it but really not the point as had taken my wife out to lunch for part of birthday present.
Popped in for a quick lunch and we were met with a friendly and cosy atmosphere. The member of staff behind the bar was incredibly friendly and made sure that we were well looked after. The food was very tasty and I would certainly recommend it to friends and family.
This is a very welcoming and friendly pub, but food is lacking. We are camping near by, and popped into the black swan for a quick drink, had a look at the menu and decided to come back later for our tea (Yorkshire) came back and ordered the homemade steak pie and a burger for my husband costing £30, what arrived was a mince and onion value pie, with smash and microwaved peas, my husband's burger looked fabulous, apart from the chips that seemed cooked the day before and warmed up, must admit they were very good at giving us a full refund and apologised, such a shame as a great location and would benefit from a good chef.
Went on a nice 8 mile circle walk that ended at the Black Swan. Friendly landlord, 4 well kept cask ales along with the the usual pub drinks. Didn't eat today but am told it's good by family who live down the road. Dogs (and horses, see pic) welcome.
Dog friendly and great food. Vegan and dairy free meals, good choice. What's not to like. 🤔 Great function room looking forward to Trisha's ( medium) visit soon.
