About us

A warm welcome to The Black Robin. We are a traditional Kentish pub located in the picturesque village of Kingston, about 15 minutes drive south from Canterbury. Dating back to around 1740, The Black Robin is nestled in the heart of the Elham valley, in the Kent Downs Area Of Outstanding Natural beauty, and enjoys views across the countryside.

We serve the best Kentish ales, a carefully selected wine list which includes many award winning English wines, and a freshly cooked menu of British classics and seasonal favorites, all made from the very best locally sourced produce.

Whether you're after a relaxing few hours sipping a pint of real Kentish ale by roaring log fire, a fresh and wholesome dinner with a chilled glass of wine or a cup of coffee or two with friends, The Black Robin is the perfect place to relax and unwind in good company.

We hope to see you soon!.

Popped into pub for lunch after a walk on New Years Day. It was very busy and we hadn't booked but were made to feel incredibly welcome by the staff. Managed to find us a table, food was really tasty and fairly priced. Dog friendly. Would recommend.

We recently held a wake here following a family funeral at Barham crematorium and I can only say that there's nothing about it I would change. We were given the garden room at the back of the pub which is a lovely warm inviting space, teas & coffees were already put out to welcome us & drinks could be ordered at the bar to be put on the funeral tab. A beautiful buffet soon appeared with an excellent variety that catered equally well for our vegan guests as it did for meat eaters. The staff were very discreet & we really didn't need to ask them for anything as it was all so well anticipated. They brought in an extra table when needed & kept the tea & coffee pot topped up. I would highly recommend the Black Robin for an event like this, many thanks to the kind staff working that day:)

Lovely meal in a lovely old pub. My only comment/feedback is to just let customers know gravy is already on the dinner. 2 in our party forgot to ask for it to come on the side. People are very different when it comes to gravy. Still best Sunday lunch we have all had for a very long time.

Initially I phoned a few weeks prior to our booking to confirm a specific item was on the menu daily for one of our group with a dietary issue. They phoned me back to confirm they did & took my booking for 4. This was the first time we had all been here. We were early for our booking but the greeting was very friendly & welcoming. We all ordered different items for lunch & we were all very impressed with the quality & quantity of the meals. The team who served our drinks & meals were all very friendly. We were all so impressed we all said we would definitely visit The Black Robin again. Well done. PS they also phoned to say we had left an item behind when we left & would hold onto it for us. Great customer service.
