Myself and my family decided to visit this establishment for our wedding anniversary dinner. We were well received with a warm welcome. Our table was in a lovely spot within the restaurant. The service was excellent. The food arrived in a more than reasonable time frame. I cannot fault the food preparation and presentation. Dropped a 🌟 simply due to the size of some of the portions. Not good value for the money.

The restaurant is in an old building which dates back to the 15th century. The atmosphere is great (low ceilings, hops hanging all around and massive, beautifully presented fireplaces). The food is delicious. We (a party of 4) had the chicken, the pork belly and the steak and ale pie, plus starters and desserts. All well presented and very tasty. The service was lovely and the staff very friendly. We'll definitely go back next time we'll be in the area.

Third time returning and it just gets better. The best Sunday lunch around, cannot recommend highly enough. Gemma and Lee are always lovely hosts, as are all their team. Good drinks selection. The Black Horse looks stunning inside and out. Cannot beat a drink in the garden before heading in, to be treated to a great meal.

I visited this delightful restaurant with my two sons for a delightful lunch. Our lovely host and the team ensured everything was taken care of. Our food was superb. I really enjoyed my time here. I now know why my son dines here so regularly. Well worth a visit

The only word I can use the describe our experience was nice, nothing was bad, but equally nothing was amazing or had that wow factor, and when they are marketing themselves as a high end restaurant, with starters/desserts priced at £10 per portion, and mains at £25-30, I would definitely expect more than nice…. The tables each have their own candelabra, and the walls are decorated with Kentish hops which is nice, but the atmosphere definitely felt lacking. The were more than enough waiting staff for the amount of covers, which resulted in them being slightly to over attentive, we have 2 people come to ask if everything was ok with our starters. The food was nice, but severely lacking in seasoning. The terrine was accompanied by onion bread, but I can only describe this as a miniature loaf, and it was too small to cut and eat with the terrine, a nice concept but failed in delivery. The pork belly for main, the protein was well cooked, but the sides which were all stacked together for presentation, was just missed that wow factor. The food was not bad by any means, but wasn’t OMG amazing.
