The Black Bull Whitby is a freehouse that we have had the pleasure of running for 20 years now. We pride ourselves on the traditional character of the pub (no televisions or games machines, but we do have Wi Fi) and offer a warm welcome to all our visitors. We try to keep a diverse menu serving mainly homemade food that offers something for everyone. We have an extensive menu accompanied by a particularly varied Special's Board. We have an actual Dessert Board too, which features traditional homemade offerings like Sticky Toffee, Bread and Butter alongside various Sundaes and even Banana Split!
We offer a range of traditional homemade food options on our takeaway menu as well as the option of traditional Sunday roast to takeaway at the weekend.
On the question of dog's, we love them but only permit guide or assistance dogs (with the correct identification) in the pub. We do have a beer garden that is dog friendly (partially covered over) and accessible from the road that runs past the Quoits pitch to the rear of the pub.

Whilst staying in some local accommodation we visited this pub 3 times and had no issues at all. The place is traditionally warm snug and relaxed with no modern distractions. Food was very tasty, wholesome & very generous. Not often that we can’t manage a dessert. Staff are very relaxed, polite and attentive. In challenging times this place is a breath of fresh air.

Eaten here tonight and it was fantastic! Last minute table secured as they had a party booking. Warm welcome by friendly staff. Great beer and varied food menu. The chicken curry was amazing. Good value too. We’ll be back!
Squeezed us in on a Friday night & were very accommodating, brilliant quick service & the food was just perfect. Very large portions - we went away very full with a takeout pudding instead! Great home cooked food, you couldn’t possibly leave disappointed! Thanks very much
An "out of the way" delight. The home cooked food here is excellent and the portion sizes are very generous - you will not come away hungry! The chicken parmesan meal - the cheddar covered one in the pictures - is amazing. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Definitely worth the journey for a meal here.
