About us

With the support and backing of Black Country Ales, we were appointed managers to bring the pub back to its former glory.

We have kept the values of a traditional pub by offering real ales, open fires, dart teams and proper pub grub and bar snacks. We offer varied live music, storytelling nights and poetry nights. We have a fully air-conditioned function room for hire with its own bar and private garden.

We also have a large beer garden and are dog friendly. Along with our highly efficient team, we look forward to welcoming you soon!.

table booked for 7 on a Sunday for a carvery. Friendly team with staff everywhere so your not kept waiting. Carvery was fantastic and couldn't fault it. Every food item is replaced piping hot and when needed so you always have availability of what you require. would love to have gone fir Christmas day but they sold out back in July! That alone shows how popular and good the food and service is here. highly highly recommended!

Can't call myself a Local Guide without reviewing the best pub in Stafford. My partner and I moved here a few years ago and kept smelling the carvery as we walked past and I finally got a chance to try it a couple of weeks ago. I am not a small woman and can confidently say it's the best I've had, and I've had a few! 😂 it's always packed on a Sunday, the carveries are extremely popular so I definitely recommend booking in advance. They can accommodate couples or smaller groups if you're quick, you can even get a takeaway if the tables are full! The main menu food is always incredible here, proper home cooked classic pub food, always fresh veg, bread and salad and the freshest meat you could want. Best selection of real ales for miles. Terry and Dee who run it are incredible. They're two of the nicest, most welcoming, caring people you could wish to meet. They will go out of their way to accommodate any disabilities as well. All the other staff are amazing, they cannot do more for you and are all very well trained. I'm embarrassed it's taken so long to write a review but after seeing the negative ones posted yesterday, after what was an unbelievable remembrance day enjoyed by literally everyone else who attended, I had to. Terry and Dee's respect for veterans extends well beyond Remembrance day and you can see from the various plaques, photos and medals on the wall that respect for the armed forces is ingrained into the pub culture and values. I bring family here any chance I get as well as being part of Stafford sub aqua, one of multiple clubs that call this pub their permanent home. Amazing quality, extremely affordable fresh food, huge selection of drinks and ales, the best Landlady/landlords and bar staff in Stafford. Go and see for yourself! You won't be disappointed!

Very nice pub, less than a 5 minute walk from the train station with a good range of ales, lagers and spirits. I tried the Pig on the Wall from the local Black Country Brewery which was very moreish and although we didn't have food it did look good and very well priced. The pub is split into various areas and shows live sports as well. Plenty of room, even for a weekend and it is possible to reserve a table if you're worried about getting in on busier nights. Highly recommended pub and well worth a visit if you are visiting Stafford or have time for a swift pint while you wait for a train connection.

Definitely a contender for one of the best pubs in the Black Country Ales chain. It was busy just after 12 noon, which was good to see. No drama to try before you buy with the sociable male bartender. Look forward to popping back.
