If events beyond your control such as a flight cancellation or multiple flight delays prevent you from reaching this hotel for your stay, its staff will not show understanding of the circumstances and will charge you in full for the nights scheduled initially. They do not offer refunds (even partial) or rebooking at a later date, even if you notify them more than 24 hours in advance. Note that this issue occurred at the end of September, thus at the beginning of the low tourist season. Our ruined vacation was thus doubly punished by the refusal of any commercial gesture (even minimal) from the staff of this hotel. We would have really liked to discover Scotland and its landmark castles as a family but, because of this incident which occurred repeatedly with almost every hotel planned on our trip, we do not wish to visit Scotland any longer.

If you're going to Scotland, please stay here for at least a few days. This really is a great hotel with so much charm. Yes, it's old, but it's authentic and that is why it is so magical. We stayed here for 2 weeks and never tired of it. The gentleman at the front desk was so accommodating and upgraded our room for us, despite all the extra work it put him through. He had great suggestions on what to do and see while in Scotland. We walked almost everywhere, however if you're not up for long walks you may not want to do that. It's only a few minutes drive into Edinburgh. There is a splendid coffee shop right down the road from the hotel, we walked to daily. There is also a gas station just outside with snacks and any necessities you may need. The hotel itself is beautiful. The history and story behind it is amazing and I'm glad we chose to stay here. There is no air conditioning in the rooms, however and open window and a fan kept us quite cool. (Very few places in Scotland have ac). The shower and bathroom were a bit small but they were clean and worked well. There was a small fridge in our room. Iron & ironing board. The hotel grounds are beautiful. There is a bar and restaurant as well that I would also highly recommend. The park across the street is lovely and great for a walk or a break within nature. Parking is limited, but we always found a spot. I loved staying here and would absolutely go back.

Our room was very spacious with amazing view and original features. We were right on the stairway, and had a strange connecting door to another room which was very loud at times. The hotel is slightly dated but has a gorgeous cat in the bar! Buses run ever 9 minutes to town, very convenient.

Absolutely smashing stay. Rooms were impeccable, clean, and well presented. The staff were welcoming, inclusive, and happy to help. We stayed for 1 night a long time ago, and it's still a memorable layover on the way to Perth. We didn't dine here, although it looked great. It's a 10 minute walk down a steep hill to shops (bare in mind the walk back up) & the local cafe's are nice & the streets feel safe. No EV charging points in the local area or at the hotel. Parking was ample. We'd stay again.

“Absolutely enchanted by our stay at the hillside hotel in Edinburgh! The panoramic views were breathtaking, offering a picturesque backdrop to our entire experience. The attentive service, especially from the reception guy, was top-notch – a perfect blend of warmth and professionalism. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The room was cozy and well-appointed, complementing the overall charm of the hotel. Breakfast buffets are must try best food. Whether it was enjoying the stunning scenery or receiving exceptional service, every moment felt like a true escape. Highly recommend this hidden gem for anyone seeking a delightful blend of comfort and scenic beauty. 🏞️🛌 #EdinburghGetaway #HospitalityExcellence”
