Have to say, disappointed today at lunch time.we arrived when not too busy 1pm and ordered our food, service was poor to say the least. It took 40 minutes to get our food when other guests had arrived after us and served before us, extremely frustrating.we have been many times previously but after today’s experience we will not be returning.
Very disappointed in Sunday lunch booked for 8 table wasn't ready. Very slow service seemed to short of although who were there were pleasant but not very experienced in my opinion. Food was disappointing. Undercooked calamari dry chicken in the skewers. Aneimic roast potatoes, very poor green veg. Carrots were nice. Beef was overcooked. Desserts were good. Pork belly was good. Overall disappointing and very expensive drinks. Would not return
Came here for a family 21st birthday lunch in a bubble outside. Heard such great things for years, have been a couple of times but now I definitely would not return. Food was unbelievably overpriced. Two starters were cold when they arrived, when remade they were covered in oil. The service was incredibly slow to start, then when we complained regarding the cold starters, manager didn’t even apologise. The rest of the food was very average, glasses weren’t cleared, bubble we sat in was cold and covered in mould. When we requested blankets they didn’t arrive until half way through our mains after asking multiple times. Generally a very underwhelming experience. Shocked when the bill arrived at the extortionate prices. I had to ask the barman to remove the two sold starters, still no acknowledgement from management. I have worked in pubs for years and I was so disappointed by the service and lack of recognition from management. Such a shame as the pub has so much going for it! What has happened!
What an incredible tasting experience. We popped in on our way home. It is a lovely little pub with a farm shop out the back. Different quirky places to sit and a great deal.on 2 courses if you book in advance. The food was to die for. My favourite dish was the mushrooms on toast with mushroom ketchup. Portion sizes are very reasonable and we had to ask for a takeaway box. It is on the expensive side for us (4 adults, 2 courses each cost £175 including tip) but all our dishes were well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Wth this quality and level of detail, it was worth the price.
My daughter and I visited The Black Horse for lunch yesterday. We both had the roast beef which was top notch. The beef was really flavoursome and it came with lots of potatoes/vegetables. All the staff were very helpful and it was certainly service with a smile. Overall, great roast, fab service and certainly worth the extra few pounds. Would thoroughly recommend!
