Visited just before the Christmas break whist staying at the nearby Premier Inn Slough South, decent Spoons with an excellent range of real ales and craft beers. Lots of space, no problem finding a seat, it's larger than it looks from the outside! Everything seemed clean and tidy, and of course the wonderful Wetherspoon value for money. I must point out one major fault to be aware of, but this only applies in wet weather. The entrance has a chequered black & white tiled floor. When wet this turns into a ice rink as I discoverd to my cost whist entering the premises (not had a drink at that stage!). I went flying, and was assisted back onto my feet by staff and other customers. I was told by staff this is a very regular occurrence due to the floor, and to be fair they looked after me well. I'm not going to deduct any stars for this but it really does need attending to, going over the area with some none slip paint would be an inexpensive fix.
Called in for a few pints last night to celebrate our hard work of the day. The bar was surprisingly full of the Monday night club. We soon realised we were surrounded by the benefit brigade. However it wasn't too loud and everyone was friendly. The toilets are clean enough, on the way to loo I discovered my favourite feature of this place. The haunted house sound effects on the stairs. Every step made a creek. Amazing! Honestly do not change this it's worth visiting just to try it out. P.s the bar does have an old soggy carpet smell about it.
They have nice drinks selection. But their food was horrible. Bland and tastless. The burger was dry tasted as if cooked from frozen patty. And the steak was over cooked and had no flavour. And they didnt even give us salt and pepper while serving the food. Good and pocket friendly place to grab couple of beers but avoid their food menu.
Only stayed for one drink. Pleasant service with no problem to try before you buy. Some interesting photos on the walls. Clean throughout,.although the carpet will need replacing in the not too distant future. The stairs sound like the sound effects of a haunted mansion staircase.
Visited 12/08/2023. Another branch that does the very good value for money 'Top Plates, Low Rates' prices on food. Had a breakfast and pint of beer for the very reasonable price of £5.48. Breakfast on its own was £3.14. More Spoons branches need to offer this brilliant value! Deals and prices offered can be seen one the images attached to this post. Service was a bit slow, especially whilst waiting for the beer, plus couldn't find any tomato or brown sauce to go with my Breakfast!
