Came here for a Xmas lunch with work. Not been here for a long time but won't be going back. Staff are miserable, not a warm welcome. Showed our seats in the rear dining area, the place stank of drains or something alike. Service was ok'ish.. felt like we were an inconvenience rather than customers. When food was ready it was all brought out. I had the burger. £18... Lol for a small cup of chips and a very very average burger. Very overpriced. We thought our table had been forgotten about when people who ordered dessert finally got theirs. One of our table had a coffee served in a cup which was still dirty after coming out the dishwasher. After asking for another cup the waitress seemed unimpressed and got another. Equally if not slightly less dirty.. We got the bill and they had the nerve to add 10% service because of our party size. So we all got up and paid individually at the bar. Wasn't paying for service for the poor experience we received. The red lion looks and has a reputation for a high class pub / restaurant but my experience here was anything but. This is not the Red Lion I remember. Over priced and seems to be hanging on the coat tails of what once was... Won't be going back.
Lovely atmosphere, friendly service and good quality food. 2/2/23 - had not been for a while well worth returning! Amazing food, mouthwatering, exceptional flavours. Staff friendly and accommodating, excellent gluten free options.
Visited the Red Lion for an evening meal. Got there around 6pm on a Friday and it was fairly quiet. Staff were really friendly and service was excellent. Menu choices were good with something for everyone. We went for the Pork belly and Rotisserie Chicken. Both were good sized portions and very tasty. For dessert we had the Sticky toffee pudding and Summer Pavlova, again very nice indeed. Definitely recommend the Red Lion if you are in the area.
Went for a work dinner with a very large group, which they handled very well. (Shout out to their team because that couldn't have been easy!) The whole pub was very busy so I would suggest booking in advance. Food was preordered and quite tasty. We had some minor issues with the drinks orders as they didn't seem to know their own mocktail menu, but quickly solved.
Can highly recommend this pub,lovely building,great food and friendly staff. I had the baked brie off the starters menu with parmesan chips and my friend had the mushrooms , both very nice and reasonably priced too. Will be returning soon
