Well - don't know where to start really..first showed our face the first week of new management on a music night with friends, after reading the reviews was a little apprehensive (wasnt aware of new management at the time of reading the awful reviews) The place was packed, music was fabulous and the food was amazing..very tasty, plentiful and lots of choice. Covid and didn't venture that way again until recently! After working sunday mornings (and cooking a Sunday lunch for residents) my hubby whisked me here for lunch - certainly wasn't dissapointed!! Met by super friendly, accommodating staff plus the manager. Menu very good. First week I had the vegetarian option (a pie with roast pots and veges) which just literally burst with flavors in your mouth...absolutely the best vegetarian pie i have ever tasted! (and ive had a few) washed down with a pint - Next Sunday whisked there again for Sunday lunch, this time opting for a 'proper Sunday lunch' as hubby put it with roast beef and trimmings. Well - didnt know where to start - huge portion...such tender roast beef, huge yorkshire pudding, the best roasted vegetables I've tasted yet, not boiled to mush..well presented - just the best way to spend a Sunday lunch after a heavy working sunday morning/afternoon. Look forward to many more visits and thankyou to the staff/management for looking after us! Definately worth a visit anytime - breakfast is on the cards too. 😋
Hadn't been in here since pre-Covid and Colin & Tara have done a great job. Went in for Sunday lunch and it was amazing! We were lucky as we hadn't booked and they just had enough left, so do call up and book beforehand. Looking forward making use of our loyalty card where we get our 5th roast free!!
Great pit stop, another great pub to add to our list of must return to, lovely food, great beer & a brilliant reception. September 2023 a return pit stop just to prove it's just as good & YES it is, I think it may have changed hands but thankfully it is still brilliant, thanks
Booked sunday lunch for my dads 87th birthday only to be told that they were only serving brunch,so ended up having a fried breakfast for sunday lunch. Felt a little misguided as on the website said that they were serving roasts! It is a lovely pub and the lady serving us was very helpful, we had to wait a while for the food also. Would have been nice to have been notified that we wouldn't be served a roast or needs their website updating! My dad is quite partial to a fried breakfast so he was quite happy still . In reply to your answer, we did book for our meal .
A great Morris night at the Queen's Head with a wonderful welcome from the Landlord. He's really making a difference. Excellent ales - I'm afraid we only drank, so can't comment on the food, but the menu looked really tempting and the interior was as welcoming as"mine host". We'll be back.
