Quintessential English pub, open fire and dark wood floors. Friendly and helpful staff. I had a roast, yum. My husband had fish n chips, also yum. Would try again. Tidy, clean loos too!

Very popular pub on village outskirts. Enormous portions. Menu varied making the most of local produce. Reasonably priced. Would be lovely to sit outside on a warm summer nightç

So let’s start with the good. The asparagus was great, the club sandwich was good. Now the negative… absolute no go, waiters putting their fingers in glassware. The linguine? Probably everything you would not expect from an Italian dish mashed together on the plate. Pasta was over cooked, the sauce way too spicy. There should have been a warning on the menu. My suggestion, use chilli only on the prawns and keep the tomato sauce clear.

Stopped today for lunch having never tried previously despite passing regularly. Delicious burgers at a reasonable price, very friendly and welcoming staff, and the garden had some games to keep the 3yr old entertained. Will definitely be back again!

We had passed this restaurant so many times in the past year visiting between Oxford and Basingstoke. Each time we said we must make a plan to go in. On the day we finally moved back to Basingstoke we finally stopped. And boy am I glad we did. The food was absolutely delicious. We chose items off the bar snacks and sharers menu. Good portions. The ladies serving us were helpful. The owner popped past to see how things were and we had a good chat. It’s wonderful to find a restaurant that has a personal touch. The big chains don’t give you this experience because they’re just pumping numbers through. There is also an outside area to eat. I highly recommend a stop here. We certainly will go back.
