    IMPORTANT STATEMENT
From Berinsfield Community Association (BCA) and Berinsfield Social Club (BSC)
Following the publication of several misleading and erroneous comments made on social media and in the Village Voice, we thought it would be helpful to clarify what changes have recently taken place within the village regarding the Monday Lunch Club.
The BCA & BSC have always been fully supportive of the ‘Lunch Club’. For several years, the BCA has subsidised the event and only ever requested a minimal contribution to cover overheads from the organisation known as ‘MLC’ towards the costs of using the range of facilities within the club.
Following an internal audit of the practices and operations run by or on behalf of the BCA & BSC - the Club committees (BCA/BSC) took the commercial decision to terminate MLC’s use of the Club’s facilities effective the end of 2019. As a charitable organisation, we offer a range of facilities for use within the local community, but we always need to ensure that the facilities including those who operate from them are used correctly and are fully compliant with the latest laws/regulations.
In the absence of any alternative proposal, and since the BCA & BSC fully recognise and support the benefits of having a lunch club in the village on a Monday – to enable some of our older residents to have the chance to meet, socialise and have a hot meal at a minimal cost, we decided to bring back the operation of a Lunch club ‘in-house’. Therefore, effective Monday 3rd February, the BCA & BSC introduced a “not-for-profit” facility providing a 2 course meal together with raffle and fortnightly bingo. Any profits raised from the Lunch Club will now be returned to those attending in a variety of ways ranging from extra special menus, treats, raffle and bingo prizes, and hopefully even some exciting other events as and when they can be afforded.
The feedback from those who attended the new Lunch Club on Monday 3rd February was all very positive and we look forward to welcoming even more people along to enjoy the new BCA run Monday Lunch Club.
