Situated in the heart of Clare, the Bell Hotel dates back to before the Tudor era, when in 1580 a small alehouse was converted to become The Green Dragon. Since then, the building has been a posthouse, a chandlery and even a cattle market.
The ancient, grade II listed, building still retains its atmosphere and long history, though it has been refurbished and updated to offer modern comforts with WI-FI and Sky TV in all rooms.
The Bell Hotel caters for both business and leisure guests, and is family and dog friendly. Our resident bear, Fred Ted, is on hand to entertain, and we keep a ready supply of dog biscuits behind the bar.
Our Head Chef produces hearty breakfasts, light lunches and delicious dinners, with a list of fine wines and selection of real ales.
We host a variety of public events throughout the year. We also have 2 function rooms for hire for you to host your own special occasion.

We popped in today because we wanted a big late breakfast and couldn't get it in the café's nearby so we literally popped in on the off chance they may do something. It was a fantastic full English breakfast for me and an equally good small breakfast for my wife. It was quiet but I have no idea why as we would eat here again.
Absolutely superb food and drinks (the vegetable Wellington being one of the best my partners ever eaten!) In a lovely setting served by humble yet amazing staff. A round of applause to the barmaid and the chef who really couldn't have done more to make our visit memorable 😀
Went there ysesterday for a quick bite of lunch; just ordered the sandwich (bacon, brie and cranberry)... well, didn't any dinner after that! Fantastic food, good service, everything cooked to perfection. Great value for money. Understand they have a new chef now; itshows. Can't wait to go back for the Sunday Roast! 10/10 all day long!
Stopped for lunch. Had a sandwich which came with a choice of chips or crisps (Doritos). I opted for chips, and they were the best I've ever had. More like deep fried potatoes, they were lightly crisp on the outside and fluffy inside. Not cheap, but worth it. Pleasant Staff.
Fab roast and amazing service. There was a large group of 25 of us who were looking for somewhere to go to for a roast last minute without a booking. We called and they were more than happy to accommodate and had set out a whole room for us without much notice. Was very appreciated by all of us and the atmosphere was great. Really brilliant end to a weekend, cannot recommend more!
