With eighteen comfortable en-suite bedrooms and an attractive, spacious bar & restaurant, this country inn emulates Bel & The Dragon’s distinctly cosy and classic style. The Cottage is a newly renovated five-bedroom annexe which is perfect for individual or group bookings. Our large garden, with children’s play area and outdoor wood-fired oven, offers a great place to relax on lazy summer afternoons.
Our bar, complete with cosy seating and stunning French windows onto the terrace, is the perfect place to enjoy a pint of local ale, glass of wine or one of our signature Bel & The Dragon cocktails. In the winter, snuggle up in front of the fire and while away a few hours.
Group head chef Ronnie Kimbugwe has created a series of menus full of twists on an array of classic British dishes, with a focus on local, sustainable and, above all, quality ingredients. The restaurant with its open kitchen allows diners to watch the chefs at work, adding a touch of culinary theatre to the dining experience.

Don't order the steak. 170 gm which is just over 5oz for £32 plus extra for any sides. My meal came later than ever one else on the table and then a long wait until the manager addressed my complaint. Not good (My family owned 7 steak restaurants in our time)
Does the job. Good experience and very pleasant young staff. Time and experience will allow those extras to embed - like not throwing bottles into the bin every few minutes, particularly when older clients with hearing aids are dining! Generous and good food, though I'm still adjusting to post covid prices.
We decided to get a few days away. Overall we had a great stay. Our room (Crawford) based in the cottage. Lovely room with flowers growing in the window boxes. The room itself has limited space to hang your clothes, also has limited surface space. The bathroom is huge and has everything you need. The room was serviced every day, although It could do with a more substantial clean (dust in places and found things that had been left by previous guests) We booked an evening meal on the first night it was awesome, one of the best meals we've had in a while. The staff we fabulous that night. Breakfast was also great and we can't complain about the food. Over our 3 night stay the service at breakfast time varied and the lack of options some mornings on continental breakfast was a little disappointing. Overall Bell & The Dragon - Churt is a lovely place and has the potential to be awesome. We shall return.
Came here for food after being at the Sculpture Park across the road. Absolutely lovely food, staff were very friendly. Dog friendly too so had lots of doggos to pet. Sat in the outside bit in the bar section, lovely and sunny, nice little sun trap to enjoy a cold drink and some light bites in.
Overall a very nice place to stay. Good breakfast, delicious cocktails and friendly staff. However our roast beef on Sunday evening was obviously from lunch time (still OK though) the stuffing was uneatable sadly and then we were told the kitchen was closed so no pudding 😢
