Great atmosphere, friendly staff and great prices for drinks
1st visit as a guest, lovely friendly staff, lovely friendly people, great pool table and snooker room, great big sports TV, darts too, has it all for a great social club, looking forward to joining in June.
You will notice there are no photos, this is due to the reason we were here; sadly this is where we had my husband's uncle's wake but that being said here is what I as a wheelchair bound persons honest view the carpark is huge with a few bench/tables out the front then a kerb on to the patio area with a pizza oven and a dilapidated outdoor patio roof so when it did rained we got wet. To get inside is not fun the step into the first single only door is very high, then as soon as you get into that door there is another single door to the immediate left no room for mistakes with the wheelchair then there is a big hall bar to the left chairs and tables packed inside, no room for a wheelchair to get through so we had to go wright and what looks like a dance floor we placed ourselves down on one of them front tables. The toilets are normal men's and the lady's toilets are the same, two single doors very tight two sinks, baby changing and three stalls and NO my chair would not go inside the stall there was a small handle and a very LOW toilet, I came out with help back into my chair and over to the stupidly high sinks the water was so hot it burned my hands then once out there is a pool table I nearly got a cue to the face, we got back to the table and stayed there I didn't leave the table until we left I would say the staff were lovely but this is so NOT A DISABLED FRIENDLY PLACE TO GO!! Everyone else was OK but they were not in a wheelchair I will not be going back there it's too much for me and my chair sorry.
Went to a birthday party here. Every glass I drank out of looked grubby. I had to beg for more than 3 ice cubes like it was a precious commodity, to be told that they didn’t have much - like this should be a customer’s problem. 🙄 It was a hot day, so it had almost melted into my drink by the time I left the bar. The drinks were not much cheaper than pubs in London - which is strange given its location and it’s hardly a great looking venue …. Giving it 2 stars only because the party was super fun, and the buffet was so nice - not that the Co-op Sports and Social Club can take credit for this.
I held my wedding reception at this venue 19 years ago this year. The staff couldn't do enough for us then, and reading the reviews, it appears very little has changed. I'm looking to hire the club for my birthday and sounds like it will also be an excellent night.
