About us

Our Roots

Located near the centre of Luton opposite the Magistrates Court Flame must be the safest gay club in the country!

Flame's central location and warm welcome from the Partners; Nick and Natalie, Natalie is also club manager alongside our Security Team and the Bar Team, make it the ideal place to both start your night with drinks, a chat on The Terrace, relaxing in the plush Shirley’s chill out lounge, and finish off your night out by joining the dancing and partying in our fully air conditioned NaN's Bar and club area.

Under the same management and originally opened in June 2002 Flame moved to its new larger venue in 2006. It has seen constant renovation and upgrades to its facilities and is air conditioned, redecorated, and modernised.

Be welcomed by our in-house Security team into our heated Courtyard which offers smokers the opportunity to grab a crafty one. Then either head into our main NaN’s Bar and club area downstairs or venture up the stairs to Shirley’s chill out lounge and the Terrace.

Security good, bar staff great. DJ’s wicked. Management team on the ball, approachable and know what they are doing. Luton is a multicultural town and it shows in here. Everyone is welcome just leave any prejudice at the door and you’ll have a wicked night

Decent music but just to set your expectations, it isn’t really a space for queer people as it is mostly straight people. Was being hit on by much older straight men throughout the night despite having gone with a girl friend. Security seems helpful tho and staff is friendly as well.

I used to go to Flame religiously when I turned 18 in 2018. The club had a pole, it had a proper LGBTQ+ safe atmosphere and played the classic gay anthems/artists like Britney Spears, Kim Petras, Charli XCX etc. However, since the club reopened since the pandemic. Wow has Flame shifted. Flame used to feel like an LGBTQ+ safe space and felt like a proper gay club. Now it's full of chavvy road men in trackies, whilst the club plays hip hop rap music such as Aitch etc. The club advertises as a gay club and is nothing of the sort now. The last time I went to Flame I received homophobia in the queue and the bouncer heard and did not do anything and let the person in! Even though it's a gay club. I used to be a regular at Flame and was recognised by a lot of the staff. This club will never see me again as it is NOT a gay club and NOT a LGBTQ+ safe space.
