Great pub! Lovely friendly atmosphere! It can sometimes be daunting to go into a "local" pub, but The Old Sun in Ampthill is really welcoming of new faces. We've played Pool here before and last night, we joined in with the pub quiz (Thurs 7pm for a 7.30pm start). It was a great community atmosphere with teams interacting with each other. Very lively and lots of laughs. We will definitely go again!
Visited on a Saturday evening and the place was vibrant and buzzing. Great service and beer prices very reasonable. Bought two pints of Beavertown Neck Oil and got change from a tenner. In my local, the Royal Oak Eydon, the same beer is £6.20 a pint!
Spent the afternoon in The Old Sun today! It was freezing outside, so it was a welcome break from the weather! Had a warm welcome when we stepped through the door! Fire was roaring! It was quiet as the rugby was on! We had the fabulous mulled wine that was on offer, and ordered ourselves the nachos, which were one of the best we've had!! It started to get busy once the rugby finished and we decided to order ourselves another plate of nachos! Looking forward to trying the fish finger sandwich next time I'm in! The Old Sun is finding its feet since the pandemic, and we all have to adjust! This is definitely going to be my new local, and we really need to support local Ampthill businesses!
Great outdoor area to enjoy their various drinks. Was not too crowded. Bit pricey but that's ok. Staff was always friendly.
