We are located in the centre of Bearsted village, and are a private members club with approximately 650 members. Although we are a men only institution there are no restrictions on guest entry as we do not discriminate between male and female guests.
Guests are required to pay a fee of £1.00 and must be signed in by a fully paid member.
The history of the club goes back more than 100 years, and we have always been a not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to our members. For information on the history of the club please click on the History page.
We are a freehouse so are not tied to any brewery and this allows us to have regular promotions, guest beers and offers. As you'd expect from a members club our prices are considerably lower than the neighbouring pubs and restaurants.
We are a very friendly and accommodating club, and have excellent facilities. The club also has the benefit of off road parking to the rear of the building.

I visited the Bearsted and Thurnham Club last night for a charity event, when I walked in with friends the so called chairman was incredibly rude and obnoxious. Before we could even buy drinks he said we needed to sign in - no "hi" or "welcome". Paul should have been grateful the event had been planned there and so many people had come to support a local charity... instead he was miserable and unwelcoming. We actually paid to be there even though this was a charity night and he ruined the evening before it even started. My partner was a member at this club and Paul is the reason he would never return or recommend this place. Go to The Oak instead!
Cracking social club, snooker tables cheap drinks, sport shown on big screen, great meeting space for local members . Long may it thrive..

Great old English pub with wonderful character. Great food with a wide range of liquid refreshments.
Had a tasty meal as we always do great value. Looking forward to visiting again.
