The Bear Inn boasts a spacious interior with a large beer garden and terrace to enjoy in the summer months. It also has two function rooms making it a great choice for meetings or conferences.
We offer an extensive pub menu with all the favourites, alongside a fresh chicken rotisserie with mouth-watering, spit-roasted chicken available throughout the day. We're an excellent for dining with friends and family, or just popping in for a drink to sample one of our great range of wines, spirits, beers (including cask ales form Marston's five breweries) and soft drinks.
The Inn’s accommodation consists of 24 comfortable en-suite bedrooms situated above the pub and in our neighbouring cottages. Our room rates include breakfast. We also have an ample sized car park free to guests.
Street was a small farming community until the mid 19th century when Cyrus Clark set up his shoe factory and built housing and leisure facilities to provide for his workers. Now, the manufacturing arm has moved abroad and the old workshops have been turned into a Clark’s Retail Village offering designer and high street clothes at outlet prices. We are located a minute’s walk from the Clark's Retail Village and less than 10 minutes drive from the infamous Glastonbury and cathedral city Wells.

Would have provided 0 starts for service if I could have. Women on the bar pointed out there was “no tables available” even though I’d booked over two weeks ago. Why just assume we hadn’t booked? Took 20 minutes to have our order taken. One / two waiters on a busy Saturday night. We were warned there was a 40 minute wait on food. Three of the meals my partner wanted were unavailable. Turns out that half the menu was unavailable but the server didn’t tell us this before we’d spent 20 minutes choosing. At this point there wasn’t much to choose from. Food was okay. Clearly the chefs aren’t passionate as there was more batter than fish and steak was grey and chewy. Our side order of onion rings were forgotten and after finding a sever, they came half way through the meal. Cold and soggy. Nobody was offered water or any more drinks. Waiters were not attentive or compassionate. Basic customer service skills were lacking. Clearly there was a reason we hadn’t eaten here in around 6 years… First time was just as bad. Not much has changed.
Overnight stay and evening meal. Room very clean albeit a little tired. Very large and comfy bed. Excellent value for money. Food in restaurant was good. Nice decor in restaurant & bar area. Hayley was the perfect host. Chatty and friendly an asset to The Bear. We were in the area visiting family and would be happy to stay again.
Food was outstanding. One of the most flavoursome meals for this range of pub in a long time. Great vegetarian options as well. Reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and knowledgeable and let us know we had a slight wait due to a large party. This wasn't long. The hummus 'while you wait' was delicious with warmed pittas. We aren't local but if we were we would go back. Would definitely recommend. Atmosphere was lovely. It was busy but not loud. Very clean.
Had a lovely midweek meal out. All of our meal was beautifully made and wonderfully fresh. I really loved that there were traditional pub options with options for things a little more unusual. I ended up with a kabab, which was amazing. My partner had hunters chicken, which he enjoyed. All the staff were really friendly, and welcoming. And the cocktails were delicious too. We will be going again!
We needed to find a place to get some quality food after having been to woodies hole ..bit of a trek, but it's totally worth it. Yummy starters, beautifully presented and so moreish The mains were filling, full of flavour. Needed more gravy and hard to get staff once they went, but it was still great. The cocktails were made with love. All at great prices. Would definitely visit again.
