About us

The Bear Inn is a piece of Cirencester history, dating back to the 18th century, with beautiful traditional features, cosy furnishings, a street-side beer garden and roaring open fire.

Our bar offers a lively atmosphere, while the dining area is a more relaxed space to eat and drink. Join us for award-winning Butcombe beer, delicious seasonal pub food, and Cirencester’s best Sunday roasts.

Outside, our covered and heated beer garden is made for al fresco drinking and dining, and catches the sun all day long.

Looking for a private hire space? Our private dining room is perfect for intimate events or special occasions – think birthdays, Christmas parties, supper clubs, or meetings.

Looking for your own space to watch the match with mates? Ask us about private hire! Our sports screen is located in our private dining room and not always open to the public if the space is hired. We recommend booking ahead, or just give us a call to check availability.

The Bear is located close to popular attractions in and around Cirencester, including Cotswold Water Park, Cirencester Park, and the Corinium Museum.

Booked new years lunch at the Bear and so glad we did!! Beautiful table by the window away from crowds- perfect as we had 2 small dogs with us. Staff friendly and welcoming. Very warm, cosy atmosphere with beautiful fireplace. Best of all though was the food. We would not normally leave a review but we could not compliment the chef enough. Hubby chose the beef and ale pie and I had the Simplicity pie. Leeks/ ‘chorizo’ (vegan). I’m not vegan but the flavour was amazing, beautiful sauce. Can’t recommend enough. Thank you guys. 5 star from us!!…

Fabulous dog friendly pub. Staff were fantastic and couldn’t do enough for you. Nothing was too much trouble for them. Really tasty Sunday dinner- even had a dog menu for treats. Great gluten free menu. Would definitely come back again. Wish more pubs near where we live was like this!!

We had a great Father and son meal here. The food was delicious and fairly priced. Very clean and upscale feeling to the pub while keeping a classic pub atmosphere. Chicken burger with rainbow slaw had a great range of flavours and tasted very fresh. The children's menu provided something different to the classic chicken nuggets and my boy enjoyed the chicken thigh. Mash potatoes were a bit dry but the rest of the meal filled him up well.
