Called in for lunch today ordered 2 beef sandwiches 1 with horseradish and rocket and 1 without and a portion of chips. Both arrived with the horseradish and rocket so one was sent back! The chips also went back as they were black. A replacement came for the chips and again half of them were black! When the 2nd sandwich eventually came it still contained a mountain of rocket. Very poor!
Booked a table for lunch at the Cellar restaurant with high expectations. Restaurant was full, servers were friendly, however found the food very disappointing and bland. The honey roast vegetables were delicious however was the only part of the meals I actually enjoyed. Would unfortunately go out of my way to not return.
The Bear is a traditional hotel, comfortable with good service. We had lunch in the lounge bar. The service was friendly and informal but efficient and the atmosphere was lively but relaxed. We both had ham, egg with chips. The ham was local and the best I have had in a long time, thick cut and very tasty. The chips were excellent and the eggs were perfect. Although they were very busy the service was prompt and we were unhurried. Highly recommended
Nice location. Nice enough hotel, fairly budget. Rooms horrendous and overpriced. Bed was uncomfortable. Bright lights from outside shining into room all night. Wedding party music blaring. Bathroom probably up there with worst I've stayed in. £170 is a strong price for that experience. Breakfast over the road was nice. Wouldn't stay again. Cowbridge itself is a nice pleasant place to visit.
Great Hotel for food. We dined here with a group of 20 and had a great time. The atmosphere was lovely and the staff were great Prices are reasonable for the area There's great choice on the menu if which I chose the rolled belly pork. The meal was very good and the only downside was the lack of greens or any veg on the plate. I think it would have broken up the richness of the belly pork and mash. The only second gripe was my pint of doombar wasn't extantly cold. A bit warm for my liking. Overall lovely place and I would eat there again.
