About us

A traditional 18th century pub, The Bear And Swan offers a luxury country retreat just minutes from Bristol, ideal for people en route to Bristol Airport.

The pub has undergone a facelift and now boasts a beautiful heated marquee spanning the garden. The recent addition of a Garden Bar serving cool draught pints and great wines alongside Woodfired Sourdough Pizzas is an experience not to be missed whatever the weather.

Featuring six boutique rooms, this traditional pub can now be considered a perfect characterful stop-over for those on business or pleasure in the Bristol/Bath region. Take advantage of our frequent mini- break offers to treat yourself to even better value!

The Bear sits in the Chew Valley, popular with walkers and particularly those keen anglers. Chew valley lake, spanning 1200 acres is just a stones throw away. Renowned for it’s bird watching and fly fishing.

Our pub is well known to walkers and escapees from the city and features an ever-changing specials board alongside main and bar snacks menus. Our ingredients are sourced locally wherever possible to ensure the best quality and freshness. We stock a great range of ciders, lagers and real ales and present a carefully chosen wine list to complement.

Business trip. Lovely little village and easy safe parking behind the Bear and Swan. Food was great too! Little disappointed with areas outside of the restaurant and rooms which were untidy and in poor condition. That was the only negative.

A hidden gem, wonderful location 20mins outside of Bristol, staff were very accommodating and friendly. Rooms were clean and perfect for a few nights stay, general atmosphere was amazing in the pub downstairs. easy check in and check out parking can be limited in car park, however was able to park I cannot complain it was an amazing stay

Enjoyed dinner by the fire, and stayed the night. Food was on point; good presentation, fair portion, quality and taste was definitely the highlight. The team who served us were very friendly, helpful and accommodating (Will, Matt and Hannah), with a warm and prompt greeting upon arrival despite being very busy. Catered to our needs with minimal fuss and maximum smiles. The room is beautifully presented, bright, clean and has useful amenities (kettle, cups, tea, coffee, milk, iron, ironing board, extra heating, fan, shower, sink, toilet, wardrobe, hangers, free WIFI and TV. The bed was large and super comfortable. Also worth noting that despite being very busy in the pub, we could hardly hear a thing in the room! Only difficulty was finding parking. (No fault of venue itself). All in all, a really enjoyable stay and would happily return.

Didn't stay here, just popped in for a drink and ended up staying for dinner. The husband had liver and bacon and he let me try it and it was hands down the best liver I have ever tasted. Absolutely amazing. My pork belly was very good too.

Very friendly landlord and staff who are making your stay as comfortable as possible. The accommodation was beyond our expectations. We also booked dinner in the restaurant. The quality and taste was very good. A free car park is next door with a direct access to the pub. A very good location for a stop for heading to the airport in Bristol or to stay for a few days more.
