Our lovely pub can be found in the picturesque and tranquil Somerset village of Barrington, just 2 miles from the market town of Ilminster. The village has some of the most beautiful ham stone thatched cottages in the county.
We can be found in the heart of the village just opposite the beautiful 13th century church of St. Mary the Virgin. The Boar has a far reaching reputation for serving fresh quality food prepared by our young and innovative kitchen team. We have an interesting and varied menu for diners to choose from, along with a great selection of real ales, ciders, lagers and wines to complement your food, or for just having a relaxing drink. If you are looking for a romantic break, a base for touring the area or a comfortable place to stay on business, then our 4 en suite bed and breakfast rooms would be perfect. Clean and comfortable, with flat screen TV, free WIFI and tea and coffee making facilities, they are a home from home. We are conveniently located just 10 minutes from both the A303 and the M5. The coastal towns of Lyme Regis, West Bay and Beer can be reached in just 40 minutes.
Had a nice meal here a few weeks ago - I doubled up with duck liver parfait to start and the duck main. Both were very tasty and I didn't have room for dessert which is a good sign, given that food this fancy usually skimps on quantity. Service was friendly and overall enjoyed the meal. The pub has a car park at the back.
Exceeded our expectation. The food is outstanding! The staff was warm and even provided my sister with some food for breakfast as the place they were staying only left them a chocolate cake for breakfast. The room was clean and comfortable and the price seemed too good to be true. We live in California and were there for a special event. So won't be back, unfortunately, but we highly recommend!
We had a lovely time here! We would've loved to see another vegetarian option as there was only one on the main menu, but the food was great. Service was a little slow for us personally, but staff were very friendly.
Absolutely amazing 'to die for' food! Service fantastic, ambience fantastic. Worth every penny. Recommended booking for any special occasion. C & G
What an experience, anniversary dinner was the veggie tasting menu, one of the best meals we've ever had. Wine matched to each of 5 delicate and delicious courses. Daydreaming about our next visit.
