About us

Cornwall's second micropub, this small bar opened in June 2107 in a former fancy dress shop in the centre of town. All the beers and ciders are sourced from within Cornwall and Scilly by the owner/proprietor without recourse to the wholesale trade. The philosophy is that the beers in place on opening on Thursday should all be consumed by the Sunday ('Drink the Barrel Dry' afternoon), ready for restocking for the following week. Cornish organic gins and Cornish wines are also available.

Great place. Special. Small. Great beer. Great atmosphere. Can easily spend several hours there! Not sure it does food. Just had crisps!

Our favourite place to drink in Bude. Always great beer on, really nice atmosphere. It's a unique little place, done out really nicely inside with someone who really cares about the beer they serve. Often live music, or you can choose your own on the turntable.

What a little gem of a place this is! Some great beers to choose from. Jukebox is a self serve record player with plenty of choice. Chatting with a couple of locals I was told whoever is closest to the music is resident DJ so be careful where you sit! Somehow they even fit live music in the place, didn't get to see it this time round but I'll definitely be back next year to check it out. Also a nice touch, a no phone policy, and rule breakers will cost a donationto a local charity. I did get permission before taking these photos but thought it best to pop a small donation in just to be safe! If you're in Bude between 4pm - 8pm (I think the opening times were, probably wrong) Thursday- Saturday and 1pm onwards on a Sunday pop in a drink in the warm atmosphere and taste beers. 10/10 for service and atmosphere. Beautiful little place

Quite possibly the best little pub I’ve found in all my years of visits back to the UK. Quality selection of Cornish ales/beers; quirky decor; and a pleasure to have missed the “no phones” sign and get accosted by the owner to “come over here and chat”. Three (quality) pints later felt like a local!! Cheers Ian 👍👍👍 (sorry did sneak a couple photos - will pay the fine tomorrow!!!)
