Or within a short drive there are a range of golf courses, sailing, fly fishing, bird-watching, horse-riding and much more.
Christmas. Three night break with our doggies. This was the first time we took our dogs away for the festive season. We stayed in one of their very nice Heritage rooms on the ground floor leading from the courtyard. 2 Night Christmas Break package. We booked an extra Boxing Day night. Dinner on Boxing Day evening and breakfast the next morning. Everything was just as anticipated and more. From our lovely room to the cosy restaurants and bar. Food was of a high standard, served by super friendly staff who made the whole experience a Christmas to remember. The location is beautiful, even in winter, and our dogs loved it, too.
We had an amazing two night stay at the Barnsdale in December. We loved the decor and the cosy bar area, and initially picked it as is dog friendly and we were travelling with our small dog. From check in to check out we were impressed with the hotel and the staff, and would definitely recommend the Barnsdale to our friends and family. We ended up eating at the restaurant for both nights of our stay, as the food was so delicious on the first night, both my partner and I agreed that we couldn’t fault any of the dishes, and the waiting staff were so friendly and welcoming. Cameron on the bar and restaurant was consistently helpful, efficient and polite, but we found all of the staff to be lovely and all seemed well trained. There were a few Christmas parties taking place in the adjacent events barn during our stay, but this did not disturb us and actually gave the place a extra “buzz” as most of the party guests would meet for a drink in the bar beforehand. Thank you to all at the Barnsdale for a lovely pre-Christmas getaway!
What a beautiful place to stay! The Barnsdale hosted us for a works conference tied in with our Christmas party and I cannot fault a single element of our stay. The location is stunning, the staff are incredibly attentive and more than happy to help and the food was absolutely delicious (slightly disappointed I did not capture any evidence of it) I would love to come back socially and explore more.
Food pretty good, rooms and decor very pleasant and staff were fine. But £9.50 for a tiny glass of mulled port? Sorry, but that's just greedy and stupid. Took the shine right off an otherwise nice Christmas lunch.
Breakfast service seemed a bit chaotic. We had to ask to order our hot food after sitting for nearly 15 mins. When it came the order was wrong and some of what we had was over cooked. They also need to sort the toaster out so it toasts both sides at the same time without having to mess about changing speeds etc. Shouldn't have to think that hard in a morning! Food we had in the evening was beautiful. Overall the hotel is great, with lovely staff.
