The Barmy Arms has a history to match with its name. Previously known as Queens Head Hotel, the owner used to assemble the Christmas tree upside down, so in 1970s it justly changed to the Barmy Arms. Despite its whacky past, the Barmy Arms is simply a beautiful riverfront pub situated in the old part of Twickenham.
With over 400 years of history, the Barmy Arms is home to one of the oldest punting fishing clubs, Francis Francis Angling Club. The Barmy Arms cements its name in rock and roll history, with previous performers being the likes of the Rolling Stones, Genesis and Rod Stewart all having played there.
Great British pub with lots of regulars and very welcoming to us Yankees!
Lovely cosy pub with roaring fire beside the Thames. Charming and friendly bar staff : Chloe and Karim. Lovely plants outside too. The tide was pretty high today., makes it more cosy
1 star for the location. Do not eat here. Kitchen and service are abyssal. 2h wait for fried chicken burger and fried chicken dish. Edit: The response from Barmy Arms is misleading. We were initially told 30 minutes. After 50 minutes, we enquired, and were told another 30 minutes (=1h20 wait). After 1h40 wait, and seeing dishes being served to other guests who arrived after us, we expressed our concern and were told the "final touch" was being given to our dish. It arrived another 20 minutes later.
We waited for 45 min to get our food. It was a cheese burger. First they bring one and after 10 min the other burger 🍔. Which was not hot enough. It’s a shame such a nice bar and they don’t have a good service. They didn’t even asked me how I want my burger!!!! I really loved the place. The employee were great. But needs a lot of changes if they want to stay in business.
