The Bakers Arms is a contemporary pub with a traditional feel and charm, amidst unspoilt Essex countryside.
The Bakers Arms is situated in beautiful Essex countryside, in a green and tranquil area of the historic town of Waltham Abbey. Despite being opened in 2002, The Bakers Arms has a cosy, traditional feel, with open fires and candlelit eating areas. This attractive stone-built pub sits in spacious grounds with a handsome, tree-lined beer garden complete with wooden canopies. This stunningly picturesque setting is matched by the imposing grandeur of Waltham Abbey’s historic centre. The spectacular Grade I listed 12th-century church Abbey Church of the Holy Cross which gives the town the ‘Abbey’ part of its name stands at the heart of the town, whilst just down the road, in the handsome pedestrianised square by Leverton Way, unique local shops nestle alongside each other, in the shadow of the beautiful and tranquil Waltham Abbey Gardens.
A handsome pub resting in an extremely attractive section of Essex countryside, close to the excellent walking opportunities at Epping Forest, The Bakers Arms is a wonderful spot for enjoying tasty traditional pub food. The scenic, tranquil setting makes the experience of sitting down for a relaxed Sunday lunch and a glass of hoppy cask ale even more pleasant.
We enjoyed an evening meal at the Bakers Arms. We found the menu quite varied. The food was good and served nice and hot. We would visit again and enjoyed the atmosphere and the waiting staff were friendly and efficient.
Brilliant Pub. The breaded mushrooms are amazing! The food in general is delicious and the staff are very friendly and catering. The atmosphere is really nice and the bar and restaurant have beautiful decorations. Would definitely come again :)
I have to say for pub grub, this is probably as good as it gets. The pub itself is aesthetically pleasing and the waiting staff were friendly, welcoming and very efficient. There were eight of us for dinner and all dishes served were surprisingly good. In general I find pub grub to be either rather well done or inadequately tasty. But I can go as far as saying that this scored high for a pub meal. I will definitely meet friends here again when we visit next.
Wasn't particularly busy but service was slow .Each course took longer than expected which is ok ,if the food makes up for it!! Some choices on the menu were unavailable,Food was average and child like portions were embarrassing like they'd ran out of stock . Apparently under new management this being the only reason for the visit . There are alternative 4/5 ✨⭐ places within 10min drive from here.
Really good food. The sea bass and scallops were amazing and up there with the best I’ve had. The atmosphere was really chilled and relaxed. The service was really good . Highly recommend.
