Wonderful pub/restaurant, with amazing friendly people working there! The house is approx. 600 years old and full of charm! Beautiful place to e.g. start your trip to UK with a fantastic lunch offer!!
Yet another excellent bargain lunch at the Axe. For £9.99 each, prawn salad starters, then small chicken and bacon pie for me and scampi and chips for my wife. Unbeatable...
We booked for Sunday dinner I had the roast chicken and Debs had the beef. Both were absolutely outstanding, roast potatoes were perfect more needed though The desserts were a match for the mains. All in all one of the best we've ever had.
It's an alright local pub, but the roast dinner (chicken) was super disappointing. it's not a piece of roast chicken per se, but an unseasoned piece of chicken breast fillet "roasted" in the oven (pic attached). As well as this, the potatoes were undercooked and the carrots hard. Fish and chips were good though, plus the homemade tartare sauce was great.
Nice local pub in a quiet spot, with outdoor seating at the rear of the property. Menu / food was good and served to a high finish. Marked 4/5 stars as we went midweek (only 4-5 tables were occupied) but got the impression they were short staffed / stressed by the volume.
