The Lansdown is a traditional pub on the edge of Clifton Village. Family owned and run, it’s a haven for those who enjoy great beer, a glass of good wine, honest home cooked food, and a satisfying spirit or two.
We’re open Monday to Thursday from 4 - 11pm, Friday 4pm - midnight, Saturday 12pm - midnight and Sunday 12pm - 10.30pm. So if it’s great ale, good food and convivial company you’re after, come pay us a visit.
Took my elderly mum out for Sunday lunch as a party of five and it was fantastic from start to finish. We arrived on time but our table was still being cleared. They offered a table upstairs but I explained my mum struggles with stairs and we were happy to wait. They got the table cleared really quickly, apologised and said they'd take a couple of drinks off the bill. They needn't have done that and I hadn't complained but it really does set a good impression. Vast array of beers to choose from before the food came. Chance to try samples for free too. Food arrived and was superb. We had all the different roasts and no complaints. If anything, there was slightly too much on the plate for some. Not moaning though because it was all cooked perfectly. Service was chilled but efficient. Young team, but all really switched on and helpful. Can't wait to return.
We had a great time at the Lansdown. It has a lovely, warm feel with great food and a good range of drinks. The staff were extremely accommodating of the many, many food allergies of our party, even finding an option off menu for one person. Would definitely recommend a visit!
Just wanted to say how impressed our group was with the Sunday Roast, it was so tasty - every single element! Really impressed. Thanks to the chef and the great service.
The Lansdown is a great neighbourhood pub with a great atmosphere. The staff is very friendly and make you feel at home. I only had drinks there. They had a good selection of beers including my most recent favourite Camden Hells. A good hoppy lager. They show all the sporting events. It’s a great spot to stop for a pint.
Went on Sunday for a roast with my partner and my family. Despite them saying they were a staff member down the service was really speedy. The food itself was excellent. I’ve eaten a lot of roast dinners (too many!) and this one was up there as one of the best I’ve had. All the veg was beautifully cooked, the chicken was nice and moist and the gravy was delicious. Things I liked even more were the fact that they kindly allowed me to have one of the roasted half-apples from the pork dinner with my chicken dinner. Very kind. They also were entirely happy bringing us more gravy when asked. I don’t know why but pubs are often really grouchy about having to bring more gravy! And finally my partner had the vegan roast. Often I find the vegan version of something like a roast to look and feel a little bit of an after thought but this one looked every bit as delicious and grand as the meat versions. We also had a little baby in our group and despite not having dedicated changing facilities we were offered a quiet private space to change him in. Good job.
