The Old Duke is a world renowned Jazz pub located in Bristol, England, known for our jam packed bar, wonderful staff and incredible atmosphere. We host live music every night of the week, our specialities include Jazz, Blues, Country, Soul and Funk. Entry is always free.
Enjoy some Traditional Jazz on Monday evenings, Friday evenings, and Sunday afternoons. You will hear our beloved Trad regulars referred to as 'The Bog-enders' for their tendency to sit at the end of the bar where the loos (and the best views) are. Sunday afternoons are great for family outings, children and well behaved pets are welcome.
Tuesday evenings are Open Mic Night. Run by our amazing resident Blues artist Eddie Martin, you will witness a selection of wonderful and unusual acts. A free drink for each performer, arrive early if you would like to sign up.
Eddie Martin plays every Sunday evening with The New Eddie Martin Blues Band, aside from the last Sunday of the month where you will find him performing as the amazing Eddie Martin's One Man Blues Band.

Always a great evening here. There's a good range of live music, it's always busy. The door staff and bar staff are really helpful and I have never seen it rowdy given that this is on king street. The pub hosts a good selection of drinks and snacks.
My first time visiting Bristol and as someone who enjoys the live music scene (particularly jazz and blues), I have two say that The Old Duke is a must visit. The atmosphere is super friendly with everyone there for a good time and just wanting to hear the music. Also enjoyed the alfresco extension out the front allowing you to sit outside on a warm summer evening whilst still hearing the acts playing. A must visit when you’re in town!
Nice location near water, located in an area with a few other bars, do outside there was a nice seating area. Quirky decor inside, open muc night in a Tuesday night. Bar staff very helpful, took the time to recommend other pubs. Decent pint. Would return.
Loved the ambience here. We were initially sitting outside and were drawn in by the wonderful live music. Definitely worth visiting just for the love music. However, all four of our beers were served warm and that's the last thing you would want on a hot summer day. The drinks came in cheap disposable plastic pint glasses -- the kind that lose their shape when you hold them.
Had a brilliant time at the Old Duke. Always a friendly atmosphere. Lots of different ales and cider. Bar staff are excellent. Great live music. Saw the First Raitt band - brilliant blues and jazz band.
