About us

WELCOME TO THE COTTAGE INN, BRISTOL

With one of the best pub locations in Bristol, The Cottage Inn dates back to 1868 and was once used by merchants for storing Baltic timber for the growing number of businesses in the dock during that period.

Today, it’s a buzzing pub with stunning views across the harbour overlooking Clifton, and a menu offering delicious takes on pub classics with a focus on seasonal ingredients, fresh fish and seafood.

Inside, you’ll find a cosy atmosphere and beautiful interiors, with beautiful wooden flooring and comfy furnishings, and we’re dog-friendly throughout.

Outside, our exterior is almost entirely untouched from the mid-19th century, with a beautiful, dog-friendly, waterside beer garden.

Behind the bar, expect a wide selection of award-winning Butcombe beer and local cider, and an exciting wine and cocktail list.

We’re close to popular Bristol attractions like M-Shed and the SS Great Britain, and we’re a great stop off before Ashton Gate.

We’ve visited this pub on a number of occasions whilst staying at the next door Baltic Wharf caravan site. Our most recent visit was disappointing. My fish cake dish, although tasty, in quantity resembled a starter rather than a main course, and my husband’s mussel main course appeared less than fresh. Desserts were better and a reduction made on the bill when we complained. However, we will probably explore other options next time we visit.

Stopped off for a drink with the family. Ordered cold drinks for the family but we were refused a coffee because we were a walk in...... We had a table. It was not busy and they just didn't want to serve us coffee... Extremely bizarre! Not something I've ever experienced before. The young lady who dealt with me was lovely and deserved 5 stars. She said she was just following orders.

Took advantage of pre booking a table for 4. Brilliant idea, they were ready for us and the first one start a tab. Our various meals were fantastic ranging from gammon egg and chips, to vegetarian Homemade Tortellini. Attentive staff meant the drinks were topped up and no one was left up at the bar waiting to be served. Great time. Would do it again. 😊👍🏻

Id highly recommend the Cottage. Went here twice this week it was that good. Food is fresh and well presented. The pie of the day was the best I've had in a long time. My partner had the gammon and it was a thick gammon and had lots of taste. The menu is small but that is perfect as it has something for everyone. It's a lovely clean pub with a fab atmosphere. Decorated beautifully for Christmas and the staff are friendly and helpful. Anita was particularly lovely. We felt very welcome and found a table with two babies in prams. We will be going back very soon.

I recently had the pleasure of enjoying a delightful breakfast at Cottage Inn, and I must say, it was an absolute treat! One dish that truly stood out was the smoked mackerel flatbread, and it left me with a lasting impression. Furthermore, the service at Cottage Inn was exceptional. The staff members were attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. They were more than happy to answer any questions I had and provided excellent recommendations, ensuring that my dining experience was nothing short of exceptional. Overall, my breakfast at Cottage Inn was a true culinary delight. On the other ocassion I had a Sunday Roast and oh, their burgers!!! - the best in whole Bristol!!! I highly recommend trying this delectable breakfast option for a truly memorable dining experience.
